I originally came to Android from a BlackBerry Tour and then from a Curve and the Pearl. So basically for the past three years I've used a Blackberry. Like others I was tired of its boring operating system and wanted something else. One thing though that I did like was the way Blackberry always knew what you wanted to type. Like it would predict words as you type but it would give you words you often used first before suggesting others. I need something like that. For example I keep typing "Ate you coming now" instead of "Are you coming now" and it happens every single time I type. I even pressed exactly A R E and I get ATE. Does anything else have this issue or am I crazy? Is there a better keyboard app out there? Maybe faster too?

I've tried Swype and SlideIT and they aren't fast enough for me.

I prefer the HTC keyboard. It seems to autocorrect/suggest in a reasonable manner and it learns. I have seen that there are ways to install it on non-HTC devices.

I like my Droid's keyboard. It has the suggestions and everything there. Pretty accurate. It might not be perfect, but it hasn't bugged me enough to switch.

Better keyboard got the best look-a-like blackberry storm keyboard on the market.. smart keyboard idk about a blackberry skin. but they got a iphone skin

+1 on the Better Keyboard. You can add to the dictionary by long pressing the word and selecting from the menu (Add 'xxx' to dictionary). This will give those words precedence. I add a lot of common words so they get chosen first.

Although, I primarily use swype (I never used a BB)! The new beta rocks.

I've tried/have all three...Better Keyboard/Even Better Keyboard, Swype, and Smart Keyboard. Better keyboard has the best skins, but the worst usability. Smart keyboard has multi-touch, a bevy of customization settings, but a short list of correction words. To me Swype is the best. Although its not like your conventional virtual keyboard, its very accurate once you learn how to use it and very fast. Its ideal user setting is in portrait, especially on the Droid. You can use it in landscape also but why when you have the slide out keyboard??? Just my opinion and experience.

HTC_IME keyboard works perfectly on my droid and supposedly the n1 as well. You will have to do a search for it. Smart keyboard and swype r my next favorites
