Blackout phone screen w instashare projector?

I've noticed that some video playing apps will blackout the phone screen while continuing to project video on the instashare projector to save battery life. I've tried apps like https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....skin1980.screenoffkeepplaying&token=Gb7XlCDV but they black out the projector as well. Anyone found a way to be able to save phone battery by having the screen black out while playing a game on the projector with a BT controller?

So this morning playing oceanhorn on the porjector, I ended up needing to transfer an apk to my Z Force and used superbeam to do so, but just used the recent apps button to hop from oceanhorn to superbeam then back to oceanhorn. After about a minute of resuming play, I noticed that the screen on the phone had timed out and was off while the video game was still working on the projector (controlling with a moga controller, not touching the screen, cuz that wouldn't make sense now would it?). I'm wondering if using the recent apps button to get in and out of some games will allow the screen to time out while using the projector and allow the game to continue functioning? I'll test it some more... maybe someday someone will care about this and find this thread beneficial? Maybe not...
