Block text messages from displaying on screen?

Hello.

I have a 2017 Ford Escape SE and a Samsung Galaxy 6.

I downloaded Android Auto onto my phone primarily to use the maps / navigation feature on the car's display screen. I don't mind incoming calls, but I don't want text messages displaying on the screen while driving.

I thought going into Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Android Auto and then blocking notifications would prevent this, but texts are still popping up on the top of the screen while I'm using Google Maps.

Any way to fix this?

Have you received the Android Auto 2.2 update? I just saw that it's available to me today, and doing some Google searching I found that one of the noticeable changes is a preference to disable messaging notifications in Android Auto. I don't know if AA considers texts to be the same as other messaging apps or if they're considered different, but it might be worth checking out. I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet.
