Hi!

I have a china made non-brand tablet which is running on Android 2.3.

I wanna block YouTube & some other video streaming sites. I searched for an app in Play, but couldn't find one.

I can't block in router, because I wanna access those sites in my PC & laptop.

Is there any way to do as we do in windows by adding those URLs we wanna block, to hosts file?

Go to Settings - Applications - YouTube and check to see if there is disable option. I of not then you can probably just use an App to lock YouTube and prevent use. A password can be set to re-enable the App if you want to use it.

AppLock in Play should work.

Lock the browsers too?
Nope. I don't wanna lock the browsers.

I found a solution and I made it mate.

Rooted the device, installed host editor and added youtube.com in the file.
Now no more YouTube in that device. :D

Thank you for your assistance guys!

Have a nice day! :)

hi MayaSL,
im not an IT or any expert on gadgets and IT solutions. May i know what does rooted the devices means?
i have the same problem which is to block youtube on one of my device.

Thanks!

Rooting means hacking the OS and gaining access to the system files which are normally not visible or read-only.

I'm new here, and relatively new to android. Could someone explain how to do this? Root my phone, install a host editor, and add the website? Thanks!
