Blockbuster app

lol you guys are funny, as said it takes up very little space and you dont even know its there unless you actually open it. maybe an iphone is better suited to you guys lol

I don't want any stinking iphone, I am perfectly happy with my EVO...well accept that stupid blockbuster junk..lol

Bloat Freezer, just released in the market makes it as easy as ONE click to FREEZE these apps if you are rooted.

If you UNINSTALL or DELETE these apps, you WILL NOT be able to get ANY OTA updates in the future unless you put them back on and set the UNIX permissions correctly, I already learned this the hard way which is why I spent so much time writing Bloat Freezer.

Here is the thread for it

Just don't start the application again...i didn't! Ill wait for the Netflix app...which appears to be coming in the non to distant future...

Even if you dont start it up.. android will still pick it up and put it in the memory.

They're annoying, but holding them in memory doesn't exactly take up a lot of resources.

I use Launcher Pro, so I just hide them from my app drawer with that.

Thats correct but it wont run unless you open the app

Not quite true, before freezing Sprint NFL Live or whatever it was called was showing up in System Panel as actively downloading quite frequently (I assume scores and stats) and it still to this day has NEVER been opened. It just runs as a service, other apps do the same

Could you pm me or post (your call) with what program you go rid of those with and how you go ride of them? I already know you have to root, I know some programs have more than 1 way of removing apps.

If you are rooted, you can use Root Explorer to remove the bloatware. I used the below thread to rid mine and everything is working well ... and they are actually removed from the device, versus freezing.

How is actually removing instead of freezing better? You do know that you will never be able to get another OTA update on your EVO if you delete just 1 system app unless you find all the ones you deleted, put them back, and then restore the UNIX permissions correctly?

Freezing keeps them from running and makes them invisible to your system, just like they aren't there, and when an OTA update comes out, you just defrost and get the update.

Freeze with Bloat Freezer or Titanium Backup PREMIUM, do not uninstall/delete unless you don't care about ever getting an OTA update on your phone again.

Why would I want an OTA update? The community will have root-safe and most likely, improved, versions of that same update within a day or two. THAT is the update I want, not an OTA that could break root and put even more bloatware on my phone.

You seem to use a custom ROM, not the stock ROM. Us with stock roms prefer to have the ability to get OTA updates if we wish.

And using Unrevoked, no OTA can remove root for more than about 2 minutes.

Freezing is better than deleting in all circumstances with stock ROMs because it allows us to choose if we want an OTA or not, unlike deleting which just prevents you from getting the OTA all together, no choice.

I wasn't asking why you would want an OTA update, but rather informing everyone else who might want to get OTA updates in the future not to delete system apps from their phone, but to rather freeze them with Bloat Freezer or Titanium Backup Premium.

Hey, I see the sig and I get it. To each his own, but I was just replying to cg1492's post.

no problem I understand, OTAs are pretty useless for people with custom roms but are important to those of us still running stock roms, good luck with everything!

Man i hate BB, i dont know why they're there. They should be out of business soon!I have swype already. I Didnt update my Evo to avoid the bb app, NOVA, & Kindle. I dont use none of them & i dont want to root my phone yet, cause it does everything i need it to do already. ( I looked into rooting no benifits for me exccept to take off bloatware.) Hopefully tehy take off those apps in the future since BB is going to be obsolite.

Unfortunately I see it only getting worse, these companies pay Sprint to put them on there and like every other carrier, they'll put anything on the phones for some cash.

Hey guys I had my evo since Dec 27 and was wondering can I delete nova , teeter from my phone... I already frooze some apps but not deleted none using z4root and titanium apps.. and I was just wondering could i delete these two thanks
