I'm getting calls several times a day from a Restricted number. The person doesn't say anything. I've been cordial, I've yelled, I've said nothing until they hang up, which is usually after 20 seconds or so. Verizon doesn't have a feature that stops restricted calls from coming in, so they are useless to help. I've looked up apps in the Play Store but don't want to buy one if it isn't going to work.

Has anyone used an app that stops blocked/restricted calls from coming into their phone?

My phone is a nonrooted S3, with Verizon.

I have not heard of a unblocker but I use Call Control to block those types of calls. you can find it @ Google Play and they have a free version

Free mr number. It hangs up, sends messages automatically. You set. U block text call emails. love it. Can block numerous test emails phone numbers. Plus its free. Even private numbers. Numbers starting with....you pick

The app that I use is Current Caller ID from the Whitepages. It's free. It has a block call function that is very easy to use. Any number that is registered will show the name of that number's owner. It also allows you to block texts, too. Any contact that has a Twitter or Facebook account can be easily updated if you want from the app. Here's the link:

Can you comment on whether Current Caller ID is actually free, or just a trial version? I was looking through the reviews and one poster noted that he received a pop up saying that his trial had expired and that it would be $1.99/month to continue using the service.

Yeah. I will clear that up based on my use. The app is totally FREE to use. The app tracks how the top 3 people that you text and call in a chart that's very helpful. The OPTIONAL $1.99 one time fee is only if you want to have the app save 12 months of calls and texts within the app. It's completely optional. I have used the app since July and HAVEN'T PAID A DIME. It's only optional and not necessary for the app to function. Trust me, there is no bait and switch involved, or I would have not been using it all this time.

I went into the Play Store and got the app Call Control. It has a 14 day free trial. I set it up to not answer Blocked or Restricted calls. I can choose to have the app send blocked or restricted directly to my vmail or to have my phone just hang up on them. I chose the hang up feature, that way the person calling doesn't get to hear my vmail. It started working immediately! This unknown person called my phone, which did almost a half ring, showed up as Private Name Private Number on my caller ID before the screen went blank again. A few minutes later I checked the app and this person had called 4 times in 2 minutes. By not getting my vmail they must have called back trying to figure out what had happened! Awesome. For the rest of the day, and several days after, the app continued to do the same thing, a half ring, then hang up on the person. I called my number after dialing *67 to block my home number and the phone doesn't ring, it just hangs up.

So far I'm very happy with the app but will look into some of the above posted apps and see how they work. I'd like to be able to leave a message for the blocked call saying "This phone doesn't accept blocked calls".

90 days, 5 numbers. Pay to block 20 numbers. Another rip off.

--Tapatalk on SGS3.

As the original poster stated it is a restricted number. It shows no number on the screen. To use this you would have to input the phone number which he does not have. I use Call Guard from Google Play to block these type of calls.

I paid for extreme call blocker and it works like a champ

How 'bout using built-in functionality? In your recent calls list just long-press the number you want to block and select 'add to reject list'. Works like a charm.

I also use this option, but I'm not sure if the rejected caller hears vmail or not since I have never gotten one

I know this is a bit late in this conversation but I have used Extreme Call Blocker for years and I love it. It's an excellent app with lots of options.
