Blocking unwanted Text Messages in Kit Kat

Textra will dump an unwanted text message for you, once you configure it to do so.

Mr Number does not block text/sms's on Android 4.4! Though it is a good program.

I used the blacklist on my sms app so I never checked to see if Mr numbers blocked sms. I just assumed it did. It does work great on blocking calls though.

aFirewall call and sms blocker (from the play store) by Lucky-dog works...and it's free. However, you have to use their messaging app as the default. Only one that blocks BOTH on my Note 4.

I wonder How Google can be more "brilliant" cutting off this totally ESSENTIAL feature on Kit Kat!
It's basic! Every phone I use, I'd turn "ON" the SMS blocker inside any app that provides it, like a lot of Antivirus, SMS blocker, etc.

For Sprint users, just log into your account online and you can block calls and texts through their website. Easy Peasy!

Actually the native app will block texts from unwanted senders. In the conversation window click the menu button in the upper right corner, People & Options from the list and then block on the following screen. Took me a while to find out and most threads seem to miss this. No 3rd party app needed.

No such option! Not in galaxy s4 mini! !?? So now wat?

Mr Number is not an SMS/MMS app. Therefore, it can't block SMS/MMS. It can only block calls. And recently, one particular robo-caller gets through every day.

Cheers.

Verizon removed the feature from the native app.

Does Textra delete them or can uou se blocked messages when you unblacklist?

Wow, it's so difficult to find an SMS blocker, any luck, anyone? I'm using MacroDroid ($) for callers and looking to see if it will also handle SMS.

I am able to block unwanted SMS from numbers by blocking them using the smssecure application.
I started using smssecure so that my text messages would be encrypted (no data connection needed),
it saved my bacon against stagefright stuff, and now I can easy block unwanted numbers.

You can get it from the google play store,
but also from smssecure.org
or via de f-droid open source repository, if you have trust issues with google.

Select in smssecure the conversation of the person you want to block,
got to conversation settings via the menu, select block, confirm and your are done.
