Guys, there's an app for that. Search the Play Store for "Screen Tint Adjustor"

There are also a several others that pop up as well.

Haven't tried any yet, but if I'm bothered by the blue tint you can bet I'll be doing so in a couple of weeks.

I'd been using Twilight until our OS allowed for a similar function towards yellows for use at night. Twilight adjusts to red for the same purpose and works perfectly. It lets me choose red intensity and screen dimming.

Here are the top search results:

If it only happens at an angle would you adjust the angle to be white? Wouldn’t his make the straight on viewing messed up?

Either way I think it’s a physical thing (polarizer).

Frankly, I'm trolling a little. All the complaining over on the other thread is a bit overwrought, don't you think?

Your point is excellent.

A few people ARE seeing it straight on, thigh that might very well be cause they've read about it and looking for it.

Regardless, should it be a problem for anyone, their is a fox.

Those apps never work that well, kinda like a blue light filter Store app, always poor quality.
If you're talking about a fix already then there's an issue

is this a real issue people have... or a only at extreme angles and this desire for so many to have anything they buy be impossibly perfect?

Well I was just at the Verizon store, yes I do see a little tint when it is tilted, but it doesn't bother me. I mean I would say 95%of the time you look at the screen straight right? Seriously how often would someone purposely look at the phone tilted for a long period of time?

I agree with most of you re "is it a problem", and if so, take a chill pill.......

Particularly given the complaints of viewing angle. I mean, really??? It's not like your 75" HD TV where there are folks watching a football game from the edge of the couch. It's your freakin 6" device!!!!!

Hi Guys

I looked over the Pixel 2 and the P2XL today at Verizon and all though I am on a chill pill, I canceled my order. The viewing angle does not even tolerate a small off center angle.
I looked at my 5X, no issue, I looked at the P2 and it was fine at any angle.

Guys, for a pinch under $1k I canceled. The speakers, mercy did anyone from a consumer group of people listen to them? Weak, anemic, pitiful. My 5x is louder by a pretty good margin.

Good luck to all who go forward.

Best of luck then, sounds like this wasn't the phone for you. What phone will you look to go for now, curious.. Note 8, v30?

And this is it exactly for me.

In any case, I'll probably just wait it out until I get the phone and skip the rest of the blue tint threads for now. I'll read the actual reviews from the blogs 10/17 and then judge for myself when I have it in hand.

I'll take a break. Nothing on the market has me excited. My 5x has a 8.0 notice on it so I'll unroot and let her come in and get to know it stock.
I like Pure Nexus ROMs' and I'm sure he is all over getting out a 8.0 version.

I'm a photographer and use calibrated IPS and PLS panels and my televisions all have exelent angle viewing.
Its just me but I have a low tolerance for less especially at this price point.

Thanks, ALL

I have a Pixel 2 XL on pre-order and am super interested in the quality of the display. It's interesting to me that the early reviewers (at least the one's that I read) didn't talk about the "blue tint" issue. Doesn't mean it's not real, of course. Now there's plenty of talk about it on forums.

The reviews will come in tomorrow. I'd like to keep my order in place, but if there's significant evidence display issues, I am out. My OG XL has a beautiful display, and as many here have mentioned, I don't want to pay a premium to go backwards.

Here's hoping that the display is as good some say it is!

I mean, I preordered the thing and I plan to take delivery. If I find myself actively disliking the display after I've given myself the time to adjust to it I'll return the phone; easy peasy. That's what return policies are for. What I'm not going to do is flip out and run for the hills because other people have negative opinions- I'm a big boy, I can make up my own mind.

I had those same sentiments but the reality is that it shifts to blue even at a very small angle like 10 degrees and it is worse than any other phone. That said it is really only noticeable on pure white images, and straight on it looks terrific if a bit muted. Load a darker wallpaper so it uses the dark theme and you may never ever notice it again.

It's at extreme angles. The last gen Pixel does it too, but it's more yellow than blue. The S8 and Note 8 do it also, but there's is more red. Long story short, a whole lot of AMOLED displays do this.

I love how when you have your heart dead set on loving a device, that nothing will detract you, not even an obvious deficiency on a borderline $1000 phone. Yet the same people will be the ones to bash oneplus for going with a 1080p display on a $500 device or bash essential because the camera is maybe not the best. But if you want a pixel with pure android and the pixel is the only game in town you will find any excuse as to why its "not a big deal" to validate your purchase. Not everyone wants too see an ugly screen at a slight angle. A lot of people, myself included work at a desk most of the day and have my phone laying down next to me. If I want to check a text or glance over at a notification I don't want to have to pick up my phone just to avoid seeing an ugly blue tint. Cheaper devices with 2k displays don't have this issue. LG G6, Axon 7, essential, s8, etc.
