Blue Screen Tint? Should be a Simple Fix

Yes, more often than not you see it more with people who will find fault in a device they were never fully intent on keeping from the get go. They will make small issues seem exaggerated for the simple excuse of giving them reason to return a device. But this pixel 2 XL blindness is mind boggling. A clear and annoying issue for a $900 device and people are fine with shrugging it off as "normal". Mine is on the way, if it bothers me ill gladly send it back and use a second hand Note 8 that can be had for $700 on swappa. Much better value for my dollar.

The problem with some (myself included) is before this 'issue' was even brought to light it went unnoticed. I went to a verizon store to get a feel for the phone and spent a half hour on it taking photos, videos, using the browser, looking at the phone from all sorts of different angles to admire the design and while i felt the speakers were 'good but left something to be desired' not once while I was using it did i think to myself 'man this screen is whack'. Hell I didnt even think it was sub par, it felt like a perfectly good OLED screen. NOW that I've seen countless posts and videos about the problem i find myself wanting to go back and see if it was really that obvious of an issue that i completely overlooked. I really dont think it is.

To touch on your point, I'm a google person and I love google phones, and the fact that this phone offers so much of exactly what I want is precisely why an 'issue' like the screen tint isnt making me reconsider. If I spent that long in the store, where i was Actively looking for performance and cosmetic pros and cons, and didnt notice screen problems, then the phones gonna be fine for me.

Yes. Agreed. The forum echo chamber makes most things seem worse than they are at times. This may or may not be the case for this issue, but many times things are fine on a phone for me that are disasters for others. In my experience if one goes looking for a problem, one will usually find one. I'm not gonna inspect the display like a scientist. I'm gonna use it like I normally would and enjoy it and if there is still a problem that is too much for me, I'll send it back.

Lots of "people are delusional" posts both for and against being tossed around lately!...

...So I don't see any reason to panic. I've watched a bunch of video reviews (I'm sure many of you have too!) and I'm not seeing a screen that has major problems. Even video reviews where the reviewer is intentionally moving the phone strongly off axis (this happens in the PhoneArena review IIRC) the bluish tint does not look out of line with my current device (Nexus 6p, rocking an older Samsung panel). I do think 2XL owners might need to check their panels to make sure they got good ones, and I personally expect to like the color profile of the phone, but if not I suspect that Google will make more saturated versions available in the near future (though by all means keep asking for it if that's your preference - this is probably a "squeaky wheel gets the oil" situation).

Cheers!

Something like this seems to happen with most phones that are released. With the 6p it was the "Bendgate" issue and the TWO reports of the rear glass panel cracking due to "extreme changes in temperature while sitting in a pocket" that started an absolute sh*tstorm that lasted a solid month. In reality neither of those issues translated to massive real world problems.

The first pixel is the halo effect from the camera lens when you point it towards a light source. (uhhh... 0.o)

This feels like another one of those cases.

Right on. exactly how it should be addressed.

That is why I don't buy into "Doom & Gloom" posts before I get a phone. I don't even go to the store to review the demo unit. I will check mine when it comes and if it is just awful I will simply return it like I would any other product that wasn't to my liking (or if it gets recalled.. Damn Note 7.. lol). If I bought into every time a new phone had a "OMG This is so broken!" I wouldn't have any new phones.

6P was bending, iPhone the headphone jack was unforgivable (still sold millions), Note 8 no way because look at the exploding Note 7 (still sold tons), etc. etc.
