Blue tooth phone commands?

I have a 2 day old Thrive, and cannot use the BT phone in my car. No commands. I have downloaded Voice Search, and started Voice Dial, but still nothing. From my reading of older posts , I may have to download Voice Commands, or alternatively, Vingo. Since my downloads my be more recent than the posts, I would appreciate your opinions if that is the way I should go.
Also and opinions on which is better, Google's VC or Vingo?
