Being new tonAndroid I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. I have my phone paired with my car (Subaru) and it connects and works fine. But randomly it will reconnect the media option that I have turned off in my BT options. I can't figure out any sequence of what my trigger this and I am curious if anyone else has this happening. I have a feeling it may have something to do with switching wifi on and off but I just can't pinpoint it down.

Sounds like it might be your car that is possibly causing the problem. I cant say for sure as I dont have a Subaru to play around with.

A number of us have had or are having BT problems with the Amaze and our cars. My Amaze was cycling thru the pairing/connect process and turning on and off the phone in the car. Then, when it did connect, the headphone icon would show up on the Amaze and I could hear the individuals speaking to me, but they couldn't hear me speaking with them.

I went thru a long testing process with T-Mobile and they said that HTC is aware of a BT problem with the Amaze and car audio/BT functions. In my case T-Mobile and HTC wanted the phone back so they could see what was going on in the software that was causing this. It was definitely the phone and the software on it. In the meantime, they sent me a brand new Amaze and it works perfectly with the BT in my car. What I was told is that this issue was either going to be fixed in a separate software update or, under the ICS upgrade due out at some point this year. But it is not your car… it is most definitely the software on your phone. You may want to send it back and see if a new one takes care of the issue as it did for me.

By-the-way, I was in my local T-Mobile store this weekend and the Sales Rep. that I have known for a number of years told me that ICS for the Amaze was scheduled for release next month. Not sure to believe it or not… but it would be nice. He also said that the new HTC S and Samsung Blaze would be available in March and April. So he may very well know of what he speaks since T-Mobile announced the Blaze for release on the 14th of this month.

Didn't think the car could switch the BTA on in the phone so I have been trying different sequenses to see when it does/does not happen. If I leave the BT on all the time I don't seem to have any issues. So I have been turning the wifi off fully (logging into network) before turning on BT and have been successful so far.

At this point for me it seems to be a wifi/BT switching thing.

Well that sequence failed on me today. But it appears I may be chasing gremlins anyway. I only noticed the BTA running when I scroll through the options in my car. When I would see the BTA active I would look at my phone and the media player would be running. This would concern me as I was concerned with battery life. As I was messing around with the settings it appears the media player doesn't play unless BTA is chosen as the option on my car stereo. So in essence you are both right. My question was wrong.

I guess all is right enough for now. I just don't know why the media center keeps turning itself on when I keep manually turning it off. Thanks for all the help!!!

Bluetooth, cars ... known, sort of widely reported issue with the Amaze. I have a 2006 model car and the audio doesn't work when the phone is paired and connected, but then kicks in if I switch to the phone's speaker, and back again to Bluetooth actually, it seems to work if I just touch the "headset" button on the active call screen, and just select Bluetooth ("HandsFreeLink"). Go figure. If HTC doesn't fix it with firmware, my phone may be going up for sale. Hands-free should be hands-free, dammit.

Looks like I will just have to wait for the upgrade to see if it straightens this out. Thought I had it figured out but nope.
