Bluetooth and youtube not working on ANY custom rom

Hi,

After getting my Samsung Epic 4G last year, I had rooted, wiped and installed Epic Experience - Version 1.2.09 [11/22] - Eclair (DI18). All was well !!

Yesterday I decided to try Epic Experience - Version 2.0.08 [03/05] - Froyo (EB13) and followed the necessary steps to change file system. I used Odin with CWD3 to do this. After installation I noticed that the youtube app would open and display videos but none of the youtube videos would play (kept getting a "this video cannot be played, touch to retry" error for any video that I tried to play. It worked fine on wifi but not on 3G. I then noticed that the Bluetooth would not turn on. Everytime I clicked on it, it would say turning on and go back to the off status after about 15 seconds.

Confused I decided to go back to wipe, go back to stock with Odin and go back to Android 2.1 - i.e. Epic Experience - Version 1.2.09 - here also faced the same issues with Bluetooth and youtube.

Went back to stock through Odin and everything is working fabulously.

Tried Epic Experience Roms v1 and v2, tried Nebula roms, tried Syndicate Rom, and finally tried Viper Rom v2 with the correct procedure and wiping between each. Noticed that with ANY custom rom I cannot get Youtube videos to play or Bluetooth to turn on. It works absolutely fine with stock Sprint Rom ONLY.

Even formatted the SD Card.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?? I am at my wits end.

Could this be linked to rooting to CWD3 ??

Sam, I know there are some bluetooth issues with some ROMs on EB13. Basically bluetooth works but the voice dialer part is broken. You can pair up and talk and do file transfers fine just the voice dialer is broke on some of the ROMs. Syndicate and Bonsai do have it working properly last I checked.

You Tube. Works fine for me, no problems there. Could be that the ROMs your attempting to run might need to be updated on the You Tube (go into Settings>Apps>Manage Apps>You Tube> wipe cache/data then try again.

The 3g bug, I've heard of it here and there but I its not isolated to any particular ROM.

Thanks for your reply. After numerous wipes and going back to stock, the bluetooth now works on 2.2 but no go with youtube. The videos play on wifi but not on 3g. (This works perfectly on 2.1 though !!! ) What a choice.

Tried clearing data/cache on youtube. Even uninstalled and reinstalled but no difference.

You are right about the voice dialer. I am going to try Syndicate Rom and see if I have any luck there.

Thanks for your reply. Tried the wipe cache/data and even uninstalled youtube but couldn't get it to work. I also wiped the device and went back to stock and started again about 6 times. The bluetooth suddenly came alive !!!

Have now installed Syndicate Rom 1.02 based on EB13 and voila - all is goooood !!!!
