Bluetooth audio quality with HTC StereoClip?

So I purchased the HTC StereoClip to go with my One for use in the car. Everything connects and plays fine. However, I can also connect a iPod Touch via the StereoClip and the audio quality, to me, is much better - particularly on the lower end.

There is more discernible punch on the low end with the iPod Touch via the StereoClip while I have to boost my EQ settings to get the One to sound similar.

What's odd about that is both the One and StereoClip support the proprietary aptX codec, which is supposedly better quality than normal bluetooth codecs that the iPod supports.

Anyone care to chime in on this one? Is the DAC perhaps inferior to the iPod? Would aptX even matter in an instance like this? Is there some kind of app that lets me know what codecs are actually in use (aptX vs. bt) during playback?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I agree. The bluetooth bitrate on this phone is crap. iphone's bluetooth drivers are far superior. I had this problem on my last android device as well. It seems like xda devs have to fix bluetooth quality on customer roms, and thats the only way to get it. Such a shame.
