Bluetooth audio with BMW stopped working after 8.0 update

Immediately after 8.0 update on Pixel XL, I'm seeing this. Audio is playing and randomly all sound stops even though the phone has the track remaining as playing and Bluetooth connection is still intact. Same behavior for different apps so far as I can tell, and the only device having the problem is the BMW. Anyone see the same or have any ideas for a fix.

I tried removing the BMW Connected app,didn't change anything. It's a 2017 230i if that matters.

Welcome to Android Central. Not uncommon after a major OS update. Most likely the fix will be an update to your car's firmware, you might contact BMW and let them know the problem.

Seems to have been fixed in Android 9, at least so far. There's still time for them to break it again before the final release
