Bluetooth bothers me because of random static

Okay, so this isn't a constant but when listening to music in my car I get a random static pop once in a while. This is with Google Play Music with the files downloaded for offline use. It's not a constant thing but it is rather annoying to hear it as I am very susceptible to noticing these things.

Anyone else notice this? It's not my cars issue, I've heard it in mobile speakers and headsets too. A Google Search pops up a ton of people experiencing this too so I know it's not just me.

I'm not sure if that would be a Bluetooth issue or Google Music. I use the old standard aux cable and have the same thing happen once in a while.

Hm, strange. I don't experience this with wired headphones though.

So far I've tested:

Bose Soundlink III Mobile Bluetooth Speaker: Popping noise

Motorola S305 Bluetooth headphones: Popping noise

Acura TSX Bluetooth: Popping

Bose IE2 Wired Headphones: No issues

Astro A50 Wireless Gaming Headphones w/ Chromecast (Works through a 5Ghz Wireless channel): No issues

I'm not getting a popping sound but a half second that the audio cuts out or the music will stutter anywhere from a couple seconds or until i cycle the bluetooth off and then back on. I'm so tired of it.

I started to have that static after the April security update. So damn annoying.

I actually reactivated my SiriusXM subscription because I was getting annoyed with the popping through Bluetooth. My buddy with an iPhone 6 has none of these issues and it makes me realize why he said "I switched because Android always had some random issue".

Point well taken. Not saying I want an iPhone but I do see where he is coming from. He had issues with several Android phones. This may be the only shortcoming of my Nexus.

I'm still annoyed by this issue. SiriusXM is having a weird issue where the sound cuts out on Octane so I just can't win. It's not just me - several buddies report the same.

Had Google said anything regarding the Bluetooth issue? This is becoming a real deal breaker for me at the moment. I'm so OCD about this kind of stuff.

Today was the first day I heard the popping noise. I've had the phone for 2 weeks now.

That's depends on if it is an aberration or a trend.

True.

I get it every time I use it so it annoys me. There's a whole thread on this in the Google threads and it may have something to do with Marshmallow because other phones have odd Bluetooth behavior once upgraded too.

Try using Rocket Player for music. I was getting the same issues when using the Google Music app.

iPhone's have issues all their own.

I know, I don't want one. I am just frustrated because the things I need to work have issues on my Nexus. Hell, my Auto brightness sensor acts weird with random changes. The worst part is its not just my phone, it's many.

I use Google Play because of their All Access subscription.

What the heck is going on today? My music skipped once and popped several times today. I hear an occasional pop which annoys me but today was unacceptable. I've read that it may be application relayed but I'm not sure. My friend with an LG V10 has had these issues ever since the Marshmallow update so I am curious if that's the culprit.

*I am running Android N Beta but this same stuff randomly happened on Marshmallow.

There are known issues with the Bluetooth on this phone. Mine has had them since day one, using the phone with Bluetooth headphones is absolutely useless.

Others experience Bluetooth issues with their cars, or with connected devices, or with all of the above.

There's a huge forum about it on Google's developer site, they have acknowledged it, but obviously haven't fixed it yet.

I saw the forum. It's frustrating and I really need it fixed. :(

EDIT: The music had no issues during a 30 minute drive this evening. It's such a weird issue that happens randomly. I've read that it's app related and finding the app that's causing it can fix it. The issue is... which app? I deleted a few but none use Bluetooth and as I said it was better. Doubt they were the final solution though!

I've given up on using this phone with my Acura TSX for music. Today the music completely cut out for a minute before restoring even though the Bluetooth connection was never dropped. It's enough of an annoyance that I am cancelling Google Music and sticking with my 6 months of XM Select for $30 promo. I desperately wanted to ditch XM but this issue is frustrating. Unfortunately, I have tasted Nexus and can't see myself going back to slow updates or skinned Android. Sure I could root but I don't really feel the need.

I just tested my buddies iPhone 6 in my car and it sounds pretty damn amazing. No static pops, the quality is full rather than shallow and faded. Yeah, the Nexus clearly sucks for music.

I may check out an HTC 10 or wait for the new iPhone. I can't stand the quality that the Nexus puts out. Whoever allowed this to pass certification with such a glaring issue is ridiculous. Especially when both of us used Google Play Music and the same songs to test. His app doesn't have an equalizer though and sounded great.

Too bad.

Android has had Bluetooth issues for a long time. I can't keep track of the number of different headsets I've purchased over the years and have never had a reliable experience with the various different phones that I've had: sometimes music worked great but phone calls were worthless, sometimes the other way around and sometimes both were lousy. I got tired of wasting money on that technology.

If the iPhone works great then more power to you to make the switch.
