BLUETOOTH Heart Rate Monitors...

So I was pretty sure the EVO 4G LTE has bluetooth 4.0 support right???

Maybe not.

I picked up a Polar H7 Bluetooth heart rate monitor. Its suppose to pair as "Polar iWL" and ask for a pair code 0000

instead it just shows up as "POLAR HR monitor" and does not work with any HR monitor apps I downloaded.

I was able to try a Zephyr HR monitor (also bluetooth) which does seem to work...more or less

I read somewhere that ICS does not really have full bluetooth 4.0 support--does anyone know about this???

I was really hoping to use the polar with digfit...but its not working and the zephyr won't work with digifit--or so it seems..

So whats the deal with BLUETOOTH 4.0 and the EVO LTE 4g? Is something wrong??

I found out.

IT has bluetooth 4.0 hardware but no drivers in ICS 4.0
support depends on native APP support
for the polar h7 there is no support now
for the zephyr hxm heart rate monitor there is SOME support
but until android or the hardware manufacturer opens up the bluetooth hardware for the device...there won't be good use of ble 4.0 for the htc evo
motorola did open up hardware to various APPS so there is more RAZR /MAXX support, but no word on htc evo 4g lte yet
