Bluetooth issues

Same BT issue?

Until now im still dealing with my OG pixel xl BT issue after oreo....

Its connected but no sound coming out from the headset... Im using bose...
Spotify or youtube same....
Sometimes on/off BT and reconnect will.make it work...but most of the time... I need to restart the.phone.... its annoying...
Samsung s8 and iPhone 8 no issues for me....

Planning to get pixel 2... Hoping that it will have better BT connection coz its now using BT 5.0...

Doesn't make sense that say Google play or Spotify works and other things don't. Ugh please get this fixed! Loving this phone!! After coming from the iPhone 6s+ and playing with the X I have zero desire to switch back to Apple or any other phone anytime soon! Loving this phone!!

I had problems with my 2XL Bluetooth pairing and then disconnecting immediately from my car. I solved the problem by rebooting the phone.

I have much head phone better range with my xl2 than with my Note 5 - I would say another 10 yards. Looking forward to Bluetooth 5.0 headsets.

I have trouble connecting Pixel 2 bluetooth to Ford SYNC (2011 Escape). It goes like this....
I start the car and SYNC tries to connect and fails. I manually try to connect from the phone and usually it will connect then disconnect - sometimes it sticks - but almost always on the second try from the phone it connects and stays connected.

I previously had a Nexus 6P and when I would start the car it would auto connect and resume playing whatever I was last listening to in seconds.

anybody have a solution? same problem?

@Stephen Hayes2 I assume you have tried unpairing/ re-pairing with the car. If not, I would try that first. I have a newer Ford (2014 Fusion) that it works great with, no issues, Pixel 2 XL.

I've been having issues with just getting the Pixel 2 to connect. The Pixel 2 will connect to my Bose headphones, Beats headphones, my Garmin watch, and Vizio soundbar. But when I try to connect to my car bluetooth, or my motorcycle helmet bluetooth it will not connect. I have tried everything! Ive rebooted many times, turned the devices on and off, reset the devices, AND i've done a factory reset on the phone. i've submitted a bug report as well. Any advice?

I came from an iPhone transferred my music over... Have used Android phones many times set Player Pro back up and in my car I get nothing. When I tried Google music nothing, but here is the thing. When I listen to podcasts on Google music or used Spotify it worked....what am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Same issue, also my Pixel 2 struggles with connectivity with smart watch and earpiece. I have to reset every time to restore function. Very irritating. It's as if the phone can't walk and chew gum. I'd like to have something similar to my old iPhone setup. There I could seamlessly link my apple watch and earpiece and answer calls on whatever device I chose while getting all of my notifications on everything. FYI I have a Bose earpiece and an LG Urbane Smart Watch (series 2). I have disabled the phone features on the watch so no calls or caller id there, however I do get notifications. The earpiece seems to only be able answer calls and hang up. None of the "Hey Google..." stuff works unless initiated on the handset. Please fix/help!!

I've been having problem with the phone dialer itself where when it connects I have no sound, kind of annoying need to make phone calls once in awhile, doesn't fail all the time, today I experimented by turning off Bluetooth that my watch is connected to and my car, and I could not get the phone app to fail with Bluetooth off, but after I turned it on it would fail again

Received my Pixel 2XL, unlocked, AT&T service on Nov 6th. Using BT with my 2017 Prius Prime I am experiencing random BT skipping while listening to my podcasts. Also, no cover art or data is displayed. The skipping lasts 5 - 15 seconds. Other than the BT skipping, I really like this phone.

For comparison, my N8 has no BT issues whatsoever. I have long commutes and use BT extensively. If I can't resolve this issue, I sadly will be returning this phone and stick to the N8.

2 XL BT is fine in my car and with a pair of BT headphones, but it will not pair with my chromebook no matter what. The two devices can clearly communicate well enough that they can both acknowledge the same pairing code #, but they won't go the extra step to actually connect/pair.

Well this is new ..

I had no issues at all with BT on the 2 XL until I got the 11/5 Security patch today. Now I have this odd problem with my car BT (2014 Ford Fusion) . As soon as I connect, the car thinks its on a call, and I have to "end" the non-call and then all is well. It's not even that much of an issue, because even when it thinks I am on a call, I can still get and make calls. Un-pairing and re-pairing yielded no help ...

But the infuriating thing is it WAS working fine, and now with the update it's behaving weirdly.

Having similar issues.

I have a 2013 VW Passat which worked fine with my one plus 2.

When I start the car the phone connects and the car indicates the phone is connected. If I make a phone call it works. But if I switch my stereo system to media mode to play music via Bluetooth it doesn't. The car indicates that no Bluetooth media available.

+ When playing music the sounds quality is kinda weird. I can't quite put my finger on it but it doesn't always sound right

May have to return this thing. To many issues barely 4 days into it

So it turns out this was all related to an app I just installed the same day as the OS update (Skype Lite). It apparently was the cause. I uninstalled it and my BT is back to normal. Thank god I saw an AP article, it was driving me nuts :-)

@Nauga FYI in case you happen to have Skype Lite installed ..

Exact same thing was happening to me. I was so happy to see that article today...saved me from just turning off Bluetooth all together.

I have a 2014 Camry. Paired Pixel 2 just fine, but track information would not show, steering wheel controls would work about 30% of the time and then after a few presses, everything would lock up and I would have to disable/enable bluetooth to get this to work again. Sometimes I would not be able to start playback at all. Tried safe mode, reset all BT connections on the car - no difference. Called Google, agent went to talk to someone, got his manager on the line, who told me to talk to Toyota about updating my Bluetooth to 5.0. After no logical answer from Google, I went ahead and installed 8.1 beta, which fixed 90% of my issues. Track information still fails to display sometimes, but at least it connects every time, and steering wheel controls are working.

I have a 2012 Camry and I'm having the exact same problem. It's so frustrating. I'm tired of disconnecting Bluetooth and reconnecting every other song. I hope they find a fix to this soon. When it initially connects it displays the song it's playing (I use Spotify), then I switch the song from the car controls and it'll switch the song, but it won't change the display on the car screen. After 2-3 song changes it locks u and I disconnect and reconnect.

I use Spotify in my 2014 Altima and have no issues with broadcasting music or receiving calls , last night I was playing Spotify through Bluetooth using maps and talking on the phone Thur the car at the same time and it would all turn on or off like they're supposed to. Also I receive battery bars phone bars and Bluetooth signal displayed on my head unit.

But I stated before I've disconnected the phone part of my S3 Frontier watch otherwise the car won't work

Edit just for fun I was trying Google Play music since I'm all in with Google and it started and stopped several times on short trips in the car no problem

Update: the most recent Nov software update appears to have resolved the BT "skipping" issue so far, however, still not displaying cover art or source information. Any ideas?

I've been having weird problems with non-audio devices like my Dexcom CGM and Ember smart mug. The devices seem to connect but can't transfer data. Rebooting seems to fix it temporarily.

Ironically, my Apple AirPods work just fine.
