Bluetooth Pairs But No Audio

Surviving through on/off is in my BT experience, app related. PAndora for eample used to be terrible at this (I use Tasker to automatically do stuff including run Pandora when it connects to the car BT). So say I am getting gas, and leave the stereo on to listen while I wait. When I start the car again, the stereo turns off while the car starts, disconnecting the phone, then it starts connecting again once the car is on.

Over time, this behavior changes, based on Pandora upgrades (for me). It is pretty good at this point, where I just have to tap the play button again to start it up. Sometimes I get odd low volume, where I have to close pandora and re-open. The stock music app handles this situation differently. In my case, I do not believe this to be a ROM or OS issue, but an app issue.

On mine, 4.0.4 actually breaks BT streaming altogether. I run 3/18 version (4.0.3) just for this reason, though I do have the 4.0.4 radios for the signal performance.

I am not sure you can lay the stereo restart issue on the phone... exactly. Yours may be different, but mine is all the app's fault :).

If it is app related, why does Bluetooth connect for some devices and not others? BT works fine using a BlueLink 2. It fails just about everywhere else. Just curious...

Pairs just fine for me with my 2010 Mazda 3 (stock stereo). My biggest complaint about pairing is that the audio for Navigation is being pushed to bluetooth audio rather than just playing out of the phone. This means I'll have to flip to BT Audio on the stereo rather than being able to listen to the radio or anything else while I get turn notifications. I can deal with the problem, just a little annoying. All apps should have an option to choose your audio output.

I used to have this problem all the time and rebooting would fix it for a day or two. However, I have not seen it since rooting and loading custom ROMs based on 4.0.3 or above. So it appears it was fixed in 4.0.3.

I have a chevy equinox and a motorola razr maxx which I can pair through Bluetooth just fine but Pandora plays on the maxx but not on the car stereo? Any help would be mucho appreciated!! Tahnks,Mike

Try an app named SoundAbout. The pro version will allow you to route audio to a Bluetooth device. If your car allows it for other phones, it should work.

This problem mostly occurs when you have app named Text Plus , just delete the app or if you want to keep it, go the the Text Plus settings and uncheck "enable incoming calls" .
I hope it will fix your problem.

Re: Bluetooth Pairs But No Audio = SOLUTION

This is it! THANK YOU so much. I have been struggling with this issue for weeks and did not find any resolution anywhere - this is the only reference that I have seen. TextPlus is the problem. When you uninstall the TextPlus app the bluetooth problem goes away instantly.

Thank you

HEY---You have my combination -- Ford Sync and Motorola Maxx ... and although the phone is working and responding just fine I cannot get my media stream to play (Pandora) ... I actually even tried a 'master reset' on my Ford (as this was the 6th or 7th phone being added to the radio) ... still no luck ... phone is fine, but no Pandora ... and I actually use the Pandora more than the phone when I'm in the car. Any ideas??

All Android users download this app from google play ' Mono Bluetooth Router'

After installing connect your earphone bluetooth to your android phone, then open Mono Bluetooth Router and Click on " ON Button"
it is connected to media and then set your volume of media and bluetooth

Man, i can't thank you enough. Quick solved my issue, you are the guy ! :D

I have a Google Nexus and since I upgraded to Lollipop I do not have audio when paired to my car stereo. Frustrating...how do I go back to my old operating system?

Should I returned and forget it? I have an X-Mini and it works fine. I'm confused.

Hello Friends

for that i had done till core hard reset which didn't worked but guys you don't believe some time a simple tricks worked.
But it works for me for my device you just need to do switch off the phone remove all the cards including sim cards and reinsert and wait for few minutes and reinsert all your cards and start the phone and then try your bluetooth device i hope it works for you as worked for me.........

I just created an account to tell you guys the solution, since its the first forum that pops up when googling the problems/symptoms. Don't use the Apps mentioned. There is a way better solution.

The problem occurs when your devices uses another bluetooth codec than your phone. That way they can't communicate successfully with each other. Some Android phones have way to old versions selected and some devices just work with one specific codec and bluetooth profile. Follow these steps and it will work:

1. Check what Codec (for example AAC) and bluetooth profile (for example AVRCP) your bluetooth device you trying to connect is using. You can find something like that in the manual of the device (if you lost your manual there should be a downloadable version on the manufacturer page). If you cant find the manual regardless of whether online or not you can google for the codec and bluetooth profile, too.

In case you can't find it anywhere use AVRCP 1.5 and SBC.

2. Activate the developer options in your device settings.
Search it up for your phone how to unlock the developer menu.
For Stock Android its: Settings > About phone > Build number.
Tap on Build number multiple times (7-10) to unlock the options.
There will be a notification for it.

3. Connect your bluetooth device.

4. Under the developer options you just scroll down to the bluetooth tab.
There you can select the Codec and your bluetooth profile (AVRCP for example).#
Set it to what your bluetooth device supports.
(I set my Codec to SBC and my AVRCP Version at 1.5)
On my Redmi Note 5 i need to do that every time i reconnect my device. Keep that in mind.

Now you should be done and everything should work fine!

I fixed my audio issue with my JVC stereo by switching my audio codec to SBC under the Developer Options just like All-Might did. I didn't have to mess with my AVRCP version, though. It didn't seem to matter which version I used; they all worked as long as my codec was SBC. I noticed that switching to SBC turns of HD Audio (AAC) in the Bluetooth profile as well for that device. Might be able to just turn that off and get the same effect, but I haven't tested.
