Bluetooth problems = System sounds low after using

I've had this exact problem too - muffled sound after turning off bluetooth headset, had to reboot to fix. Running DK28 with midNIGHT 3.1.

What I've been doing to get around it is to toggle off bluetooth on my phone then turn off my headset. Used a jabra bt5020, now using a jabra wave (and loving it!). Let me know how that works for you.

Might be switching to EB18 and midNIGHT 4.1 next week if I have time to mess with my phone. If the fix stops working for me after I do it, I'll let you know.

Thank you for the reply. It seems to be a problem with BT headsets that use the A2DP, ( blueAnt T1 uses this) I bought the BlueAnt T1 because it claims tio be android 2.2 friendly. yet it is the only BT headset I have had problems with.

So with your expereince if you toggle BT OFF on your phone before turning off the BT headset systems sounds are fine?

Anyone lese experince this and know of a fix?

Ok it so several replies are describing a few unique yet different issues.

I have no problems with connecting my BT, sound is going through BT when its connected. when using BT everything works perfectly.

The only problems I am experiencing is when I disconnect & turn off my BT, the phones sounds including ringer , media volume are stuck in a low setting even when I toggle everything to max volume. the only solution is to reboot my phone.

HELP!! I have the same *EXACT* problem as listed above. This has been driving me nuts! It only recently started and I can't figure out how to fix it...

The BT device I use with my Epic 4G is for a Kenwood stereo. Never had problems before now.

Anyone figure it out yet? I can't keep restarting/rebooting 6 times a day just to hear my phone ringing.. and yes, all volumes are up even when the ringer decides to ring quiet.

TIA :)

Toogle BT Off on the phone first, wait a minute or two before turning off the BT from the receiving source ( BT headset or Kendwood stereo)

When i toggle BT on fro phone before connecting and toggle OFF on phone before disconnecting the problem seems not to occur, It has to do with Samsungs way of handling A2dp support.

Kinda like jail...

When I use Bluetooth with my new Kia Optima it's kind of like being in jail....I only get 1 phone call. And it better be a good one, cuz after that, my phone starts vibrating and force closing like crazy and I have to reboot it to get BT to work again.

Also, many times when I get into the car, the BT doesn't connect automatically and I have to physically go into settings and connect it. Then, at random times, I can't even make a call, cuz it says it's downloading the phone book....

I don't use BT headsets, so I can't comment on that, but I look forward to having those problems, as well!! :D

Frakked up Bluetooth? Yeah, we got that...Just another awesome Froyo feature on our Epic 4G!! Thanks, Samsung!!!

I have bluetooth issues on mine as well. I am running a stock Epic running Froyo EC05. All sounds run through my Blueant Q2 just fine, however sometimes when I turn off the headset, I lose all volume on my phone (ie. alarm clock, phone ringer, message notifications, etc.) When I say I lose all volume, I should elaborate. I lose my volume from the phone's speaker, and it plays through the 3.5mm headphone jack port. It comes through at such a low volume it can barely be heard. In addition to that, it should be noted that the phone sometimes makes a "popping" sound that comes from the headphone jack port. Toggling the bluetooth off and then on again does not fix this for me, the only way to correct this issue when it happens is to re-boot the phone.

I am pretty sick with this, and even did a factory reset on the phone hoping it would resolve the issue. That helped to resolve some issues I was having, but not the bluetooth and sounds issue. I am really wanting to take my Epic back to Sprint and tell them I want an HTC EVO or something else. No, I don't want to pay for a new phone, I want you to make it right since your phone I already bought from you is crap. Has anyone been to Sprint with their issues yet? Did you get any resolution? How did the store handle it for you?

I think it is a combination of Android bt issues and the Blueant Q2 ( as well as some other bt headsets. something to do with the A2Dp supported bt headsets.
when you toggle Bt off on the phone sometimes waiting a few minutes before toggle your bt headset off. so far this works for me .

BTW I am using the same bt (Blueant Q2 and have EXACT same issues,) It is not a hardware issue so replacing the phone will not solve this it is an android software issue combined with A2DP Bluetooth headsets

Let me through in another issue though that has nothing to do with the Blueant headset. Sometimes when I plug my earbuds into the headphone jack, or my audio cable from from car stereo, I get the same results when I unplug them. No sound from the speaker, only from the headphone port. So, if this seems to be an A2DP issue, then why does this happen when I use the earbuds or my audio cable for my car stereo?

Those of us that chose the Samsung Epic have really gotten rooked. We waited for a really long time for the froyo update, and then they didnt even get it right...many many issues. I bought it for many reasons, one of which was the 4G. I live in the Dallas/ Ft Worth metroplex, and many of the places the 4G map says I am supposed to have coverage, I am lucky if I get enough signal to send smoke signal messages much less a super fast data connection. It's ridiculous.

Amen to that!

Phone Volume muffled after using Bluetooth.

After disconnecting my BT and turning off bluetooth on my Epic my phone Volume is "muffled" even though it is al the way turned up..media sounds are stuck in a low volume

when I reset the phone it is ok..

anyone else experiencing this?

Epic Froyo 2.2 DK28
I have been experiencing all sorts of BT connectivity and drop, since updating to EB13 and now EC05. My speaker also pops first slowly now very rapidly it always happens after I hang up after using BT. Very anoying!!

Samsung Epic

Hi,

I have the same problem but it only started yesterday. The part I have changed are the following. I would really like to see how many others are using the same options as me:

1. I installed a Bluetooth toggle and used that to turn the BT on and off. Does everyone experiencing this issue use a toggle or the top down curtain?

2. I just installed logsprovider to eliminate sms from phone calls in the logs. It is probably unrelated, but I am curious how many have the modified logsprovider installed?

Thanks

Took my epic to the sprint store, laid down a list of issues I was having with them. They are replacing my phone, and my new one will be in tomorrow.

I just experimented with using the bluetooth on top curtain, instead of a toggle, and it works flawlessly. Just an FYI

If I use a bluetooth toggle downloaded from the market, to turn bluetooth on and later off, the phone loses its "voice" so to speak. Instead, if I use the bluetooth toggle provided for on the top down menu (accessed by swiping down on the phone), the phone behaves as it should.

Just my two cents worth.

I have been getting the system volume low alot now. My bluetooth is still connected and I hear the poping sound from my phones ear piece. Its getting to be a pain as I now pull my battery 4 or more timies a day to fix it. My bluetooth is a LG hbs-700.

My wife with the same bluetooth but a different android phone says she also gets it and pulls her battery or restarts her phone.

As far as I Know this is an on going issue with most Epics with Froyo. I have this issue every time I turn off my bluetooth headset without turning bluetooth off on the Epic first. The only fix is a restart of the phone. Its a software bug & hopefully be address in the Gingerbread update.

I have a Toyota tundra with blue logic and it does the same thing. when I get home, i need to sit an additional time in the car to turn off bluetooth. when i forget to do it, it is a pain. I hate having to reset my phone just to hear it ring!!!!
Come on Samsung!!!

Thanks for this thread!
I was having the same issue and having the reboot the phone to get speaker sound back and didn't know what was going on...

Same. If not for this thread, I wouldn't have realized that the way to fix the muffled sound on my Epic 4G after using my bluetooth was to reboot the phone.

^ Google fodder to hopefully help more people in the future. :)
