bluetooth speakers

I recently bought a bluetooth speaker for my car hoping to use it with my S8 but was disappointed to discover it only worked with the phone function. I couldn't play music, or use the sat-nav voice or anything else. is this a limitation of the speaker I bought? or is it a limitation in my phone?

When you go into the Bluetooth settings in your phone, did you verify you have both calls and media turned on for the speaker?

If those are both on, then it's most likely an issue with the speaker. Which speaker do you have?

Also, is the speaker specifically for calls only? Check the speaker's manual to confirm.

hi when I went into settings the only function available was phone calls.

That sounds like the speaker itself is only designed for phone calls, which is a different type of communication than media streaming. Can you check to see if it has an A2DP profile listed in its manual or on the packaging anywhere? That's what is needed for playing media.
