I've been looking at the best alternative for my data streaming to the Xoom, Bluetooth vs. Wifi hotspots.

Using a Motorola DroidX; rooted with Liberty 1.5. Wireless Tether for root users is my tether app, TBH hack installed.

When tethering via Bluetooth I am able to only stream intermittently. After 10 minutes or so I loose 3g connection with the 3g signal on the phone switching on and off. I also experience this with Bluetooth headphones interfering with the data signal or radio.

Using the wireless tether app seems to have superior speeds with zero interruption or drops.

So I'm curious if there is anyone else with a similar setup who is experiencing similar Bluetooth problems with the DroidX? Or is this just me?

And any non-rooted DroidX people who tether via bluetooth, how are your speeds and stability?

Hey moderator, how do I change title? Wireless tether options

I dont have a droidX so i cant compare similar experiences, but what I can tell you is that using the droidX wifi is a better option. i believe some users that were using bluetooth tether were experiencing similar battery drain as they were with wifi tether. So with that in mind if you are getting the same drain but less speed with bluetooth tether, you best option would be wifi tether.

For sure as it stands for me wireless tether is the way to go.

I am trying to establish whether bluetooth tether is a viable option at all. Is there anyone that uses bluetooth thether on a continuous basis with the DroidX or any phone that doesn't re-produce the same issues I am experiencing.

Its also a way for other people who are experiencing this issue to use a method that is more reliable.

Or is this a ROM issue or BT driver issue?

I have the same issue. DX running stock GB (was rooted before the update, now not rooted) and Xoom unrooted running stock 3.1.

Did you ever resolve your issue? I was using Wireless Tether with Froyo, but there isnt a "one click" root method for DX GB yet, so I looked into this. It works fine for a little while, then just like you said the 3GB icon on the DX disappears, if I leave everything alone it starts working again within a minute, but the back and forth make for an unreliable connection that is quite frustrating...

Hopefully you figured out how to resolve you issue and you can share the wealth!? :D

Nope. And now wireless tether isn't working, so this is a bigger issue now.
