Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 & just bought a new Mazda 3. When trying to pair my phone with the car, the car is not picking up any of the contacts in my phone, it is picking up contacts that seem to be really old ones that I used for work many years ago. I assume this is coming from Gmail that I access on my phone. I just want the contacts on the phone to show in the car but I have been to Mazda twice & Samsung twice & each time they give me something to try but still doesn't pick up the right contacts & also stuffs up my current contacts in the process. Can anyone help? Thanks :)

That is very odd. I have synced my phone to my Jeep, also my Dart, and Also helped family with their androids on Fords, but never a Mazda.
Everything points to this being the Mazda's interface and HOW it grans the contacts. I highly doubt it's the phone. Has Mazda mentioned if there is a firmware update available for your car, is it a 2016 or 2017? I would ask about that.

What you can try:
1. Unpair your phone from the car. Then open the Contacts app on your phone, tap Menu > Contacts to Display, then select Customize (instead of All Contacts). Then choose all contact groups you want to display (which can be all of them).
Now re-pair the phone and try syncing the contacts again.

If that doesn't work. You may have contacts synced via other apps. So try this

2. Unlink your social media from your contacts in your phone (ie: facebook, linkedin...so on) . So simply go to your apps downloaded on your phone and remove the option to sync to your contacts. Restart your phone, then remove and reconnect your device to your Mazda sync and re-download your phonebook.

I would actually start from my BOTTOM suggestion as I have a feeling you have linked your Facebook contacts or something similar to your phone.

Let me know if anything I have suggested works Michelle, good luck!

I have both a 2014 Mazda 3 s GT and a 2016 Mazda 6 GT, both with the Tech Package. There is a option in the Bluetooth Phone Book to import your contacts from your phone. It goes something like this for
Type A,
1. Press the pick-up button or talk button with a short press.
2. Say:[Beep] “Phonebook”
3. Prompt: “Select one of the following: New entry, edit, list names, delete, erase all or import contact.”
4. Say: [Beep] “Import contact”

For Type B,
(Automatic downloading)
The “Auto Download Contacts” setting must be on. When Hands-Free is connected to the device, the phonebook is downloaded automatically.
Refer to Communication Settings on page 5-107.
(Manually downloading)
If the “Auto Download Contacts” setting is off, download the phonebook using the following procedure.
1. Select the "PHONE" icon on the home screen and display the Communication screen.
2. Select "CONTACTS" to display the contact list.
3. Select "EDIT CONTACTS".
4. Select "IMPORT ALL CONTACTS" or "IMPORT SELECTED CONTACT" to switch to the device operation.
5. If "IMPORT ALL CONTACTS" is selected, select "DOWNLOAD".
.6. Download will be started from the mobile phone.

Hope this helps.

What year mazda is it? I've got a 2012 Mazda3 and may be able to help.
