Boiling Point & Loosing Patience

hi everyone, first time poster, long timer lurker:

I know there are other threads similar to this, but it's time for me to vent my frustrations. I've been following this phone for about three weeks now, and like everyone else, no new news and one disappointment after another.

I'm not a tech geek, this is my first EVER smart phone, and I'm not familiar with how to use an Android phone. So why am I waiting for this phone, well, I like the best of the current trend (even though it may only last a week or two) and I like to treat myself with a nice new phone.

I feel if this phone is not out within the next week, and god forbid, two weeks, then I'm going to settle for the X, Dinc, or Fasc. I feel Verizon, HTC, or whoever is in charge is toying us around. They're trying to get the hype, have bloggers stir things up, and get free press, etc, etc.

I went to my local VZW store and the associates all said an HTC Rep. came and had them tested the TB, so, at least by now, almost ever VZW associates have experienced this phone. All the associates said "it's worth the wait", if I here that again I'm going to shove my old phone up there nearest Rep.'s *** cause I'm quite tired of VZW poor or lack thereof public relations. I would like to deman them to at least come out and say something so we all don't have to morning quarterback and start blogging speculations.....!!!!!!!

I feel we are being treated like puppets...yeah yeah, VZW never made any announcements so they should not be held accountable for any negative press. Let me say that there lack of communication are leading too much speculations (e.g.; bad battery, skype not working, Apple's intervention, lawsuit, whatever!!), and I'm quite getting tired of reading too much speculations (although it's a great time killer until this d*** phone goes live), but enough is enough. Just because they are known to have great "nationwide coverage" and the "can you here me now" BS slogan, I'm just starting to get annoyed of the waiting game.

I'm going to stop my ranting and end on this note, If I'm going to wait further, then I'm going to say to HTC that their TB will be SOL because if other phones come out, then I might go with the other new phones or save money and get the old ones.

Thanks for those who took time to read this thread.

A lot of us have been waiting for this phone since around November. I'm going to stick it out, because If I'm going to waste my time writhing over this phone's release everyday it will not be in vain.

If I end up getting another phone, well now that really is wasted time.

Waste your time wisely.

Agreed. I'm waiting it out too. My Tour is working and I know I'd regret getting a DInc or X at this point.

Sorry guy,3 weeks is nothing. I have been out of contract since August of 2010 waiting for an LTE handset. 3 weeks in my eyes is a blessing.

its not a competition...

but think about the flip side. let's say today you go out and purchase a DInc or an X. and let's say the Thunderbolt doesn't even come out until April 15th. You may be happy for a month or so and stop caring about the Thunderbolt during that period, but I guarantee you get buyer's remorse the second the Thunderbolt is released. You will think back thinking... "yeah I could have probably waited a little longer"

Honestly, stop worrying so much. It's spring time, go outside and see how beautiful the world is.

They are NOT doing this to punish anyone or build up hype.

No business sits in a meeting and predicts like... well let's leak some fake dates, let them build up hype, and then we'll release it three months later once they build up all the hype... that is NOT A BUSINESS MODEL OR WAY OF MARKETING.

If you seriously need to satisfy your tech fix, go out and purchase a "new" used phone for a couple hundred bucks, and turn around and sell it when you get your Thunderbolt.

That is all. This is not an attack on you, just trying to clear some things up.

I'm waiting unless a competitive device comes out first. So far there isn't one.

well, buyers remorse will always occur, 1 month after the TB releases, the droid bionic and the other LTE dual cores will start making their way into stores... so do you keep waiting indefinitely?

as long as youre happy with whatever phone you buy, then that's good enough

personally, if i dont hear anything official from verizon by 3/10, then i'll start shopping for another phone and looking at alternatives, i liked the atrix, but ive been hearing some users who don't really like it, we'll see

a phone is a phone, theres only so much you can do with it... so at the end of the day, all the phones are relatively close, they'll all have pros and cons, it's always a case of give and take. the TB may be better at some things, but it definitely has other drawbacks. the one thing im sure of, regardless of what phone you end up with, it'll most definitely serve its purpose

Nobody owes you anything in life. Stuff happens in business, things don't go to plan, adjustments are made. Everybody turns out fine. Do what you can with what you have where you are.

In the meantime, go make yourself a Thunderbolt image macro meme to turn that frown upside down. http://memegenerator.net/nothunderboltyet

we should all go to our primary care physician and get a check up. Pretty sure all the thunderbolt rumor/speculation/anger is not healthy for us lol

If you went out and bout an X the thunderbolt would drop probably 15 days later and you would go crazy... as others said with android phones a newer and better one is always on the horizon so as long as you hold out there will.be somthing better then what you just got

Or how about we keep links like that in other threads that are ongoing talking about the Bolt instead of posting a new thread.

To a point I agree, but on the other hand some of the ongoing similar threads have hundreds and hundreds of posts in them and unless you keep really good notes on the last page you visited on any given thread - you can figure on spending a heckuva lotta time trying to find where you left off which I've stopped doing. I don't know of any way to bookmark where I left off except for making notes which I'd never find on my desk anyway - maybe someone else does.

In response to the OP's post - I feel your pain. I'm running on a Storm 1 that's been acting up and I'm one that first waited for a new Blackberry beginning in Oct and gave that idea up in January and came over here and I'm still waiting.

One of the problems are the leaks and rumors. As exciting as they are is as much "damage" as they can do. Newbies like myself buy into them before we learn our (hard) lessons. I think Best Buy did a lot of damage on the TB. They should have waited until they had the phone and the OK from VZW to sell. To bad if that was a week later, look what's happened because of all their ads. I'd rather be able to go into a store and buy something that's actually for sale than to be given a card that means "We'll call ya when you can have what you want." These pre-orders remind me of rain checks for which I have little to no patience to begin with. If you're going to sell something, have enough on hand to sell.

I do think VZW is not only getting some free publicity off this whole thing but on the other hand they've also lost some TB buyers and I pretty much blame all of that on their silence. They let all the rumors fly, let BB hang by the b---s as I understand it, and they could have quelled alot if not all of the hullabaloo with an honest fully informed official statement - probably 2 or 3 would be in order. They would not have lost nearly the TB sales and those of us that are waiting would be more patient. I think people are more willing to wait when the provider is up front and honest with them.

I'm still waiting but that's not because I'm lusting after 4G or LTE or anything like that. People might call me too picky but I don't like the other Android phones. They're to long and skinny looking to suit me. I like the looks of the TB and so I put up with my gimping Storm. If the TB doesn't come out before the Bionic I might go that route but again it's a little on the long narrow side for my liking. Do I want to spend what a TB is probably going to cost? No, but I will because when I do get a new phone I do want to like it a LOT, LOVE IT would be even better :) I know if I settled for what's out there now just because I'm impatient I will be sorry later.

Go to the main Thunderbolt forum page, and click the blue down arrow to the left of the forum topic you want to read. You will automatically be taken to the first unread message in that topic.

Same. Since I heard VZW was launching their LTE network in December, I decided that I was going to hold out on an upgrade. Mine has been good since Sept and figured we'd get handsets in January. Ha. :-!

Thanks for the response, everyone. I too have been following this phone infrequently since CES, but I was not interested in it at the time b/c I thought the phone was too big and with the 4.3 screen, I knew battery was going to be an issue. However, as my contract with VZW is approaching I began my research of a new phone and I've settled with the TB, which is why I've registered on here to check the latest info. and Google current news updates. Almost every news blog stating it's "arriving soon" with leaked photos of release date; however, each rumor hype resulted in disappointment.

I agree with what everyone else said and specifically what DEBSDROID had remarked. However, I'm not the type that would have a buyer's remorse because whatever I'm I decide I am happy with the decision. I can hold out and I'm quite the person that has the patience button broken, but with all the rumors and leaks spreading like fire on the net it's sad that VZW has not come out and throw some H2O on the rumors/speculations. It's understandable that this is the nature of the business, but to be a good business leader in its industry I believe they should make a public statement that would assure their loyal customers because a loyal customers will understand and will hold out in the long run.

give it another week or so....

Go to Verizon online and get your date in your head where you contract runs out.

If it is over 6 months you need to decide if you want a new phone...a preivious adroid or if you are gonna sit tight.

If it is 2 or 3 months...decide...after this week decide...do I wait and switch carriers or get a different android or am I in.

That is what I am doing...I will give them this week and if it is not out I will decide if I should just wait a couple more months or go all in.

I'm gonna wait. Take it from me, I did the iPhone 4 pre-order at about 5am the day it went up (Feb 4th was it?). Anyway, three hours later I had buyers remorse and canceled my order. The thought of going TWO MORE YEARS without 4G and with no way to get a new subsidized phone was just more than I could handle. Shoot, by that time 4G will be all over and even the iPhone of that time will prolly have 4G. And I'd be sitting there with an old iPhone 4. Hehe...

Anyway, I expect 4G to grow rapidly. It is already in my area. Here is a Coverage Map if you want to check it out in your area. Don't forget to select "4G Data Coverage" before you [REFRESH] the map.
