boot cycle stuck - think my phone is bricked, any help?

Ok I am going to try that right now. What exactly does it do by the way? I also found this, it's supposed to fix the same issue. Should I try this too? Is this an accurate fix?

adb shell strings /dev/mtd/mtd8
adb shell flash_eraseall /dev/mtd/mtd8

Try what i said first.

Yes I installed cwm and then performed the factory reset in settings>privacy. adb shell wont work for me.

C:\Users\crux>adb shell
error: device not found

I have tried both adb and fastboot and have never been able to get either to work :/

If you can't get adb shell then you may be SOL. I just tried getting shell in recovery on my functioning phone and it doesn't work either which is not normal.

If you can get shell, I'm pretty confident my instruction will get the phone back up and running.

Well unfortunately as I've said before, I don't have this device so someone with the phone needs to run with this. My guess, the reason recovery won't allow adb shell is because recovery.rc is not debugable. That's a guess and a hell of a start lol

I just made the same mistake (rooted, then recovery, then stock factory reset). Same error message. Goes to show what not reading all online material when you mod is not recommended...

Made a backup with custom recovery though...so seeing is a restore works. Stay tuned.

EDIT: Backup does nothing to help the problem. Is it possible to get a warning on the Gelato rom so that at least others won't be tempted to do the same?

EDIT2: adb doesn't work- again its prolly cos recovery isn't debuggable...I see this problem popping up in dozens of places- LG phones especially. Most "fixes" are useless/irrelevant...might really be SOL guys... .

Next person that does this, and trust me there will be MANY more, please point to the person to THIS THREAD

I've included a test zip to post #1 which may or may not fix it but it's better than the current option which is nothing ;)

Old thread, but still a common issue.

This solution worked for me with an LG G Pad 10.1" Tablet (LG-V700)
