I just wish google had a way to just give us plain android and we could bypass everything moto and the phone would be open for fun. For most people the phone is perfect for them as is. For our group we need more open and less moto crap. Hope moto can see how we don't like this and might change their ways but I doubt it.

No way they will change. Why do you ask? Well thanks for asking! Because they have sold millions of Droid X phones just the way they are. They knew the bootloader would be given up on by these awesome developers . If the developers could have the opportunity to re build this phone then Moto knows people would stay with it and not ''upgrade '' to the next locked down phone.
I made a new boot animation showing the droid locked up and the bootloader. Ill post a video tomorrow. Makes me feel better knowing when I turn my X on its locked down and it wont change.

You can add HTC to your list to not like. This was posted on the T-Mobile site regarding the G2 :
Bellevue, Wash. ? Oct. 7, 2010As pioneers in Android-powered mobile devices, T-Mobile and HTC strive to support innovation. The T-Mobile G2 is a powerful and highly customizable Android-powered smartphone, which customers can personalize and make their own, from the look of their home screen to adding their favorite applications and more.
The HTC software implementation on the G2 stores some components in read-only memory as a security measure to prevent key operating system software from becoming corrupted and rendering the device inoperable. There is a small subset of highly technical users who may want to modify and re-engineer their devices at the code level, known as ?rooting,? but a side effect of HTC?s security measure is that these modifications are temporary and cannot be saved to permanent memory. As a result the original code is restored."

Moto isn't the only one playing games. Wonder how long it will take before Samsung joins in the fun?
They call it a side effect? Its not a side effect if its the primary goal. Plus, I was never aware of spontaneous code corruption that necessitated this. ...maybe I just missed something.
