bootstrap recovery...

would there be anyway to get a Full SBF? i have RSDlite now, but is just using the system SBF ok to use going from this rom? GJ 2.5 (idk if that has anything to do with it) or will just the .340 SBF from the droid-life site do the job? i just dont want to brick the phone lol

I have a full .320 SBF if you need it. All you have to do is install the patches
from the link that wildman gave you after you're done with the SBF. When
I did it, all I did was the following:

-SBF with RSD lite 4.8 (Full .320 SBF)
-Root the phone with z4 (It was painless)
-Flashed the system updater in bootstrap then rebooted
-Flashed the bootloader in bootstrap then rebooted
-flashed the kernel in boostrap then rebooted
-flashed the baseband in bootstrap then rebooted

Then flash whatever compatible ROM you want. I've flashed Rubix 1.9.5 and
GummyJar 2.5 without a problem.

Note: Once you .320 SBF and the phone is rebooted, your radio signal might
be pretty weak. Make sure you get to an area where you can get some signal
so you can *228 the phone. Once you update the system as I explained your
normal signal should reside with 20 minutes or so. That's part of the baseband
update's job.

SBF

I'll try your full SBF, I did put the phone on Apex 1.3.1 to try to find a sub for not having stock, Apex's connectivity is better, but the GPS still freaks out a little, and the phone reboots after phone calls, and Apex is really slow lol. but if there is anywhere to find an in depth list of instructions on how to put the .320 SBF in and get back to stock and then I'll cover it from there. I still have Z4 root so re-rooting is no issue, and ill pick up bootstrap and ROM manager all over again, I still can't believe all of this is from renaming a backup, after taking out all spaces, dashes ect still no cigar, I tried almost 50 diff names last night and got no luck. but yes ill try the Full SBF you have, I would really like to basically see someone do it so I don't ruin my only means of communication :p or the closest thing to it, the video I found is for a Moto Droid 1, and I don't remeber what SBF he was installing, but his phone was stock from the get go, or if that goes the same way on the X then great. and i just want to thank everyone so far with all the ideas and help :)

That's the thing idk exactly how id do it. Id like to find a tutorial of someone going from a custom rom and loading SBF to go back to stock just so I know Im not messing anything up. some of the concepts in the android partioning of system and others is still a little confusing.does the fact of a custom rom make a diff vs loading sbf on a phone that is on a stock rom?

Doesn't matter, flashing an sbf takes the device back to "stock", it doesn't matter if it has a stock rom or a custom rom. After the flash, it is stock, so you will have to re root if that's what you want.

Ok well where can I find that full sbf. Since ill be back to factory then I can just grab updates through the phone to get back to .345 via ota correct? Then simply reroot and make a backup without renaming it and not causeing all this again

Forever29 offered to send you the sbf, pm him. Then follow his instructions in post #41, use the upgrade zip files that wildman linked to, the TBH (Team BlackHat) ones to upgrade everything following the successful flash of the .320 sbf file.

ok i got the SBF file and RSD loaded up, still a little sketchy about flash this and flash that, can anyone give a lamance terms rundown on how this whole kernal and baseband and all that. all i really wanna do is get back to stock and the re-root whilst keeping a real back up Nandroid. so all i do is pump in RSDlite, then the phone is still like it is now, and then go into clockwork recovery and pick that as a backup to restore?

Yeah you can do that. It'll back up as stock. 320 though. Just flash those files that I described after you do the first nandroid of. 320 though. Then once you're updated to .340 after those flashes do another nandroid.

that's what I mean, lol whats all this business of flashing things, thats the part that I don't get lol, I just thought you load the SBF into the phone and then reboot in recovery and pick that as the backup, I'm guessing there's much more to it than that. the only SBF video I could find was simply loading it in, not doing all these flashes and it was only on a D1(not sure it makes any difference). what do you mean by flashing? (still not 100% on the lingo)

Well when you do load the sbf you're going to root and install bootstrap. And yes, right after that you'll go into bootstrap and make a backup. When we say flash, it's just a fancy word for install. So once you've made your backup, you're going to install (flash) those files so you can be on the correct system version.
