Bit of an odd one. The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen keeps vanishing. I have to swipe up to get it to show.

I've managed to get that to happen before. Pressing the little pin/circle thing on the left normally makes it stick.

Except it doesn't. It's not an area of dead screen: you can see it register the press as the colour changes. However it does nothing. Then the bar disappears again.

This is on a stock S8 that's still running the identical OS and software it shipped with. No updates have been installed and nothing new immediately before this happened.

Any ideas..?

That's a setting on the navigation bar options of your phone. Can't remember where since I'm already on Pie, but pretty sure if you look for navigation bar in the settings search you'll find it. You can select to always show the bar (except on full screen videos).

Thanks. I have finally managed to get the bar to stick on the screen. There's a little circle to the left hand side but it's necessary to click in the exact centre. Maybe I have fat fingers but I must have clicked on the thing thirty times and finally it registered and it's back the way it was now.

That 'button' will only show if you choose to auto-hide the navigation bar (and you can further toggle that by double-tapping it to make it stay or auto-hide).
