Bought used phone, voicemail password already set?

I bought a used phone off ebay, and when I called voicemail, it requested that I put in the password. However, I have no way of accessing it. What should I do?

Edit: Seller responded, says that they don't know anything about it.

the VM is connected to the account, not the hardware. So unless you bought his account as well then the password would be the one you set for your account.

Do you mean my account password? Because I was never prompted to set a vm password.

Did you set a voice mail password on your previous phone? Voice mail passwords are not specific to the phone.

all you need do is call your carrier support representative.

they will clear the VoiceMail account and then you reset the password.

been there, done that.....

as a BTW, this happens automatically when you activate a different phone on the account/telephone#. It is line# specific, not to you as the account owner.
