Brand New Charge not updated (How to Proceed?)

Had a rooted DroidX. Just purchased a new Charge "not updated yet" I think I would like to root my phone however the process for the Charge seems somewhat different than it was for my DroidX. It seems that the initial rooting process is simple enough however (Should I never update my phone afterward?) It appears that updating kills the root and then the whole process to to regain root seems extensive. How should I proceed??

Rooted EE4

That's the best walkthrough to get your phone permanently rooted. It is based off version EE4 which is the most recent release for the phone, so simply update your phone and then follow instructions!

I've got my charge rooted just right now using the walkthrough linked above. However, I was prompted to update my phone already. Do I update? or never update?
