Brand new "root" user and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Yes, I'm a noob. I have no idea what "flash a ROM means" or "root" really. I bought my inspire from eBay and it was already rooted. I am trying to unroot it with the ROM UPDATE UTILITY. But I can't find the correct one for my phone. Can anyone help? I just want to update to the newest version available. The only reason I want root is to have 3rd party apps.

Now with the Inspire you can install 3rd party apps without rooting your phone

Follow that above link and then install CM7. You will never go back. Rooting allows you to do more than just side load apps.
