So the speaker just announced that all the people that attended Google I/O will be able to get an Evo today.

UPDATE:

So everyone recieved a BNIB Evo with 30 days of free service. This includes the following:

Unlimited Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited 3G/4G

and basically anything else you can think of.

This ends on June 20, 2010.

Another thing I noticed was that many people are putting these on ebay I saw one Buy it now for $1200 and another for 699. Thanks for everyone that contributed.

I'm very happy that many devs have this device early. I hope we'll be seeing some killer apps soon.!

How much does it cost to attend the event?

Early bird registration fees are $400 USD through April 16th, 2010. Attendees who register after April 16th will be charged $500 USD. The Academia (students, professors, faculty/staff) registration fee is $100 USD.

Google I/O 2010

This is actually good news that they are doing this. Now we need the developers to create awesome apps for the EVO 4G. Better Video Chat!

The leadup made it sound like Froyo was going to be installed on the EVO, guess we will have to wait for that as well.

So much for Sprint's claim: "Winners of our contest will be the first to own the HTC EVO 4G"

Supposedly they were going to make an announcement on May 26th.

this is AWFUL!!!! You have no idea how awful!
I am losing my service (helio) and # may 25th.
Sprint is shutting it down the service and you would think they would do something, anything to tide the customers over for 10 little days.....
NO! Because they cant offer the phone early to anyone.......
*CRIES*

why not do the 30 day trial with a Hero and then switch to the EVO?

I thought about that.
They offered a $50 device credit, no credit check or activation. Ive read Sprint told some users that called to get any phone and return it within 30 days but they will lose the credit and then have to pay the activation fee.
The phone has to come from a sprint store and I think they had to return the phone via mail not at corporate store because it would be a phone sale.
It sounded so obsfuscated.

I was just going to try whining to sprint myself today and then if that didnt work port my number somewhere temporary and get the phone as a new customer on 6/4 with my work discount (25%, no activation)

There will be a LOT of EVO's for sale on eBay real soon. I don't think all 5000 attendees are going to switch to Sprint.
