hey, does anyone know if it would be safe for me to do a factory reset now that i am back up? I don't want to start over again if doing that will mess it up. Please let me know. Thank you.

I believe a Factory Reset will wipe all your personal settings. You'll have to activate your phone and sign in to your google account, starting fresh. You'll still be on 2.3.340 though. (BAck Up Your phone before doing anything)

Glad to see ya up and running.

You can Google both and track em down. I'm not sure what the latest system is on the X since i haven't had one for over a year. But if I were you I'd get the latest available.

Somebody else has to have figured this out before me, but here it goes anyhow (just in case).

Here's the scenario i was faced with. a bricked droid x that would bootloop at the boot logo, and not even be able to make it beyond the boot logo. I could however power on into the 30.04 bootloader.

my droid x battery was totally dead, I had my original droid x charger with its detatcheable USB cable, as well as a cheapo kyocera usb-mini charger.

So, here's what I figured out.

if your battery is too low you cannot program at the bootloader, it will say battery low, cant program, we all kn0w this.

I couldnt figure out the pinout of the battery to try and direct charge the battery by splicing the charger cable. I also didnt want to have to cut into my usb to usb-mini cable that came stock with my moto droid x charger, because it wa the only usb cable of its type i had on hand, and i still needed to sbf the phone after i got it charged.

so here's a little power exploit i figured out.

so, you have a dead battery, and a bricked moto droid x, and no way to charge the battery to sbf in the first place.

first: pull the battery out of the droid x
second: plugin the stock charger to the wall, and BEFORE you plugin the MOTOROLA (yeah, for some reason only moto brand chargers seem to work for this, but YMMV ?? i dont know for sure) charger to the droid x, hold down both vol + and vol - while plugging the charger into the phone.

3 - you will get the familiar bootloader 30.04 message "battery low, cannot program"

4 - NOW, without removing the usb charger plug from the phone, insert the (almost totally dead, lol) battery, the battery error should now say "battery ok, ok to program".

5 - now unplug the usb cable from the moto usb adapter charger (not from the phone), (the phone will stay on, assuming you have even a tiny bit of juice in the battery) and then quickly plugin the usb cable to a windows pc that has the motorola drivers already installed, the motorola firmware flash interface driver will install if it hasnt done so previous to this experiment.

now, RSDLite will recognize the phone, and now you can sbf with a dead battery, even though it wont charge in the bricked phone.

I dunno if anyone else has figured this slight exploit out, but it has worked for me everytime without the need for a special cable, or seperate battery charger.
