Broke my screen-Need protector. 1+8 Pro

I was trying to change from the Sandstone case to the clear one that came with the phone to see which would provide more protection. While trying to take the case off, it slipped and fell 3 feet and landed on the base of a stool and the screen shattered. The screen protector that came with the phone was in place, but it wasn't enough to save it. Oneplus is charging me $279 to replace the screen. I need to find a better way to keep this from happening again. Any ideas? This is the first screen I have ever broken. I usually get the glass screen protectors, but there doesn't seem like there is a lot of options. TIA

Last I looked, White Stone wasn't available yet for the 8 Pro. I have had them in the past, and they were OK. I would do buy one in a second to keep me from having to spend $280 on repairs. The one good thing that came out of this, is I used the 8 Pro for 3 weeks before I broke it and had to go back to my Pixel 4XL. The Pixel is a really good phone, and I appreciate it much more now. Don't get me wrong, the 8 Pro is great too, but I don't feel like going back to the Pixel is a step backwards.

Yeah I agree love my pixel 4xl , also my 1+7P
