Had my S5 for not even 5 days, and screen is dead. 1 drop from a table , onto its back on a hardwood floor, in a spigen neo hybrid case.
Outer screen is fine, but if you look carefully, can see the screen inside has a small crack, and the screen is black. Soooo disappointed , LOVED this new phone. Of all the phones I have had, first one I have broke. I'm going to try Bell, who I am with, but not hopeful. Only thing may help me will be not even a TINY mark on outside of phone. Whats whole screen cost replacement on one of these worth?

IMO the phone should have survived that.

go to carrier store with your phone and original box and receipt etc. and tell them the display suddenly stopped working and that there was no hard abuse - just everyday use. be courteous and professional but firm. ask them to do a free simple exchange. go to several stores if the first one doesn't work. plead your case and throw yourself on their mercy. remind them that you are and/or will be a long-time customer.

good luck.

I'm with Gekko on this one. I bet there was an underlying problem with the phone to start with (which sucks but unfortunately it happens).

If you can't get satisfactory resolution from any of the stores... Call in and plead your case. Obviously the screen just 'stopped working' 5 days after getting it :)

If you didn't have that crack under the screen, you'd probably be able to get a free replacement. Since there is a visible crack, you're likely screwed.

Thanks folks, went to the Bell store and saw them, new one on the way no charge ! The guy there was great, and got ahold of cust. service first. Back on the old BB for a few days now, but atleast its free.......big relief!

just in case, you do it again, the screen is $109, the complete screen with digitizer is $209.

Those are prices quoted to me for an S4 at a local repair shop.

I would imagine the S5 prices will be a tad bit more, but not much.

Hopefully I won't need to find out!:-$
