Just had my phone slide out my top pocket onto concrete, breaking the screen on the right edge. I'm cursing cos only last week I'd bought an official HTC flip cover to replace the silicone cover which came with it and worked great. It's my belief that silicone cover would have prevented this since it slightly covers the screen unlike the flip cover which leaves it exposed... So the phone has gone back in that old cover again for now.
Anyway, the most annoying thing - I am still within - by two days - 6 months ownership, and had I been a US customer would be able to get it fixed free. Cos I'm in the UK it looks like my only option is risk some third party repairer at a cost of around £70. I am concerned about the quality of the repair and sending it off to such a company, and I'd imagine the new screen would be an inferior quality item.
The phone still functions and the touchscreen is still mostly usable as most of the screen damage is at the edge except two large cracks across the screen. It's too bad to just live with, however.
Not sure what to do at this point. I have an upgrade due soon but intended to keep my M8 for at least 2 years as I like the phone and the M9 doesn't offer anything better as far as I can see.
Anyone had dealings with these online companies?
