Broken Xoom, terrible moto support

That's a terrible analogy.

It is indeed.
freeky, you wouldn't pay 8,000 USD for a dented bumper, correct?

Also, I'm not quite sure why the word "free" is being thrown around here so much. It's not like I asked, or even expected it to be fixed for free. I just expected there to be a scale. A price quoted on the severity of the problem - It wasn't dropped off of a building, run over by a truck, cracked, or submerged in water. So, starting out your repair cost a hundred dollars under the cost of a brand new one for such a small issue is a bit unreasonable.

That's why you have a choice of who you choose to repair things. Motorola is in business to BUILD and MARKET and SELL consumer electronics. They are not, however in the repair business. In fact, if you send your Xoom to Motorola, the repair depot that you send it to probably isn't even owned or run by Motorola. If that's the case, then Motorola is only giving the price that the third party repair firm has quoted. Regardless, your complaint that Motorola gave you terrible support just isn't valid.

Is this the Apple forum????? Pass the Kool-Aid  .........

Honestly you are correct they gave NO support which begs the question: Why do they have a consumer support department at all?

Replacing audio jacks is really pretty expensive for most laptops and mobile devices. Generally it's soldered directly onto the motherboard and can't be replaced without replacing the entire motherboard, and for a tablet that's a good chunk of the cost. Factor in shipping and labor, and $400 isn't very unreasonable.

Kudos on having the ingenuity of coming up with a novel way of fixing it yourself though!

Not really sure where you keep pulling your quasi-logic from, so I'll just save myself the time and trouble from posting a reasonable reply since it's not going to make a difference anyway.

I will say this however. Since I'm not really sure you've actually taken the time to read the original post, or if you just forgot about it over your trolling the topic - The terrible support didn't come from stating they'd fix the problem for 370.00. It was from the monkey behind the keyboard with the canned responses not responding to my questions/problems accordingly.

I'm sure the monkey behind the keyboard was the best Bob that 20 rupees a week could buy!
