Browse problems after update...

I guess after looking it at it more, I am really not having major lag issues. But it was definitely better when I first got the phone... Any way to get the phone back to 2.0? hehe

For example... Engadget.com lags ONLY at the top of the page where there are pictures that cover the entire screen. It flies through everything else...

Exactly. Only on the heavy parts does it lag, so we're basically screwed on web pages that heavy HTML content throughout the whole page.

I have faster load times on average post-update. As suggested you might try clearing the cache and rebooting if that doesn't work. Do you have any other data related lag?

Tried that on many different occasions now an still nothing. And no, everything else runs flawlessly. Its rather beautiful actually...until I break out the browser and go to someplace like newegg.com or droiddog.com.

Sites that were once amazing to go on are now the bane of my Droid.

After some research it seems a lot of people are having lag issues after the 2.0.1 update. Looks like those of you effected will have to wait for another update to be pushed out.

Laggy browser culprit has been found

To anyone experiencing the slow browser problem the culprit has been found.

It turns out that anti aliasing has been permanently turned on instead of deactivating when you put your finger on the screen to scroll. Why it's doing this...well, we still don't know. But at least now we know.

If any Android pros out there happen to know how to put the AA back to normal...please tell us non pros how.

system.zip

Grab the htmlviewer.apk and push it to your /system/app folder. That's the common culprit between browsers, and could be the issue.

Warning - this could be a good way to brick your phone. Maybe wait and see if Vzw addresses the issue...they have a lot more riding on this than any single user does.

Not only am I lagging while on the broswer but the scrolling speeds are literally horrendous... What the hell is with this update...

Considering that I have never bricked any of my phones before I gotta ask: In the event that I do brick my phone, is there anything I can do about it? Will I be able to fix it or is it just screwed forever?

Depends on how it's bricked :) Without a 3rd party recovery utility for the Droid, the safe part of me wants to say yeah, you're toast.

you could always try taking it back to verizon and playing dumb :D

Lol I take it that means it would be toast.

Hm...I'm pretty good at playing dumb. :D

VZW Has access to the utility to restore the droid to factory software. Eris too. AFAIK They haven't shared it yet though, which sucks...it's a simple one click windows program and would save a lot of hassle.

Why must they always "fix" something that isn't broken? :(

im on the fence.....i uninstalled dxtop, dolphin browser, and all themes. shut it off for 1/2 hour and restarted, installed everything back and it seems to be running smoother. but pinch and zoom on dolphin is a joke. needs alot of work. kudos to dolphin for trying, but it needs work. also even in the market my speed sucks. did a speed test and it was pitiful. guess ill wait a few days and test it again.

I just updated and I could not browse or get into the app market. I turned off and on again and it seems to be working fine, if not a little slow.

Browser is alittle slow here but not nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. I'm curious why it so drastically differs since everyone with 2.01 should be suffering.
