Browser Defaults to Mobile

Does anyone notice that even with the default browser set to desktop and even Dolphin set to desktop, that some sites still load the "mobile" version? I have been unsuccessful in getting the ESPN website to come up as a desktop version.
Anybody else see the same?
Hmmm... This is strange. I have run the about:debug (I actually ran it especially for the ESPN site) and I get the full site every time I visit.

Before I found this fix I was using Dolphin, same thing I had no issue going straight to the desktop version of ESPN.

Odd, was having trouble using the Gmail site on the browser, since the app one doesn't seem to work, and needed to switch back to a mobile view to logout since the icon was hidden...but the Debug item was no longer on the Settings menu. So now figuring you have to do the about:debug each time? Time for Skyfire or something.

Yes, it is only there temporarily but the settings you changed stay. To change them again, you have to do the about:debug again

Don't know, tke. Wife's tab, when she tests it, she hears it ding and come in, but can't access the inbox, or any other for that matter. In the browser, everything's there. Similar thing with YouTube app, videos won't run in it, error message, but run fine in the browser.

I have the same issue, the fix works for some sites. other sites though still open in the mobile version. no idea what the problem is :(

If you are accessing the site through your bookmarks, you might have the mobile version bookmarked. The browser can still load mobile versions if pointed to them, even though it is set to desktop.

Edit - Also try clearing your browser's history and cache.

do all this plus manually type in url espn.go.com. that works for me.

Apparently Android 3.2 fixes this issue. Everyone on the XOOM forums are happy about it.

I don't think that it's an Android issue as much as a Samsung stock browser issue. The Asus has menu-selectable user agent strings, and it works fine.

When I had an Asus, I had the same problem after I selected the desktop user agent - until I changed my bookmarks. If you bookmark a mobile site, that's what you will get as long as you click on it...even on a pc.

This is frustrating. I'm following these directions and STILL nothing! Now, when I type in the string above in the URL window, it defaults to doing a search for debug!

I didn't see that you got this sorted. (Maybe I missed it though.)

You need to be have "USB debugging" checked [Settings > Applicatins > Development] for the Debug option to appear in Settings of the default browser.
