Android Central Question

Hi - unrequested web pages appearing on Galaxy S5. Have not downloaded any apps in over a year. Tried scanning with AVG & Avast (free versions) that report as no issues found. Same with Smart Manager. Pages (Gohoi for one) usually load on turning phone on. Last time the AVG flashed a warning that the page was one one that had been flagged as harbouring malware. Any ideas most welcome. Thank you. (PS phone currently in Safe Mode and no probs as yet but only been in safe mofe for about 30 mins!)

These aren't malware, they are adware, so apps like AVG and Malwarebytes won't pick up on them. They are triggered by an app you installed, so you need to find that app and remove it. Try restarting your phone into normal mode. The next time that app pops up, go directly into Google Play (assuming the offending app was installed via GP), then into your installed app list. Switch the sorting to "most recent" and see what's at the top. There's a good chance the app at the top will be the one that triggered the ad. Try uninstalling it and see if that fixes it. If you didn't install the offending app through Google Play, then that tip wouldn't apply. It would also be one of the first app's I'd suspect too. So if you do have any installed from other sources that you don't 110% trust (such as directly from a developer), I'd uninstall those one at a time and see if the ads go away.
