BT on s23u different from older phones?

I have been using my note 8 for years via its BT to run an app. But, running this same app on my new phone does not
allow this app to work correctly anymore. I just tried on a note 10 and it works.

So, is there anyway to tweak the BT on this new phone to work like these older phones do?

Chances are, the libraries used to interact with BT has changed a lot since then and the app dev needs to make some updates.

The app will probably never be updated. They say the new BT is backwards compatible, but clearly , something is different, at least
how this app was written.

Worse case I guess I just need to find and keep an old phone, just for this one app. It controls all my windows shades so it is a must to have working. :(

I know there are a few bluetooth settings available in the phone's developer options. You might try those.

Something is definitely different with the BT on my 23u. I drive a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The BT to phone connection in the vehicle is "Uconnect" (Chrysler's marketing name). It has never supported audio streaming from any of my previous Note devices (5, 8, 9, 205G), BUT! After migrating to the 23u, I have noted changes. Specifically:

Phone is paired to the car's Uconnect for calls.
I am playing audio from the phone's speakers (not through any connected device).
I answer the call through Uconnect which means the call is through the car's speaker/mic, not the phone. Answering the call pauses the audio I was playing.
I disconnect the phone call (answering and ending the call is done via the Uconnect button on the car's sound system) and the audio resumes playing, but now it is playing through the car sound system rather than the phone.

I have not spent any time testing whether I can get the audio to start streaming through the sound system without the intermediate step of taking a call. But audio streaming has *never* happened with any device in the past under any circumstances.

I had a 2017 Chrysler 300 and had nothing but issues with using BT from my phone. I just ended up connecting a USB for Android Auto and was done withy it. Not sure if you have that option.

One thing you can try seeing if there is a Firmware Update for your UConnect (https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html), which is something I had to do after I bought the car.

When I mentioned the Dev updating the library, it really had nothing to do with it being backwards compatible, but the way the Application calls the BT stack might have changed and some of the calls might be deprecated and not used anymore causing some issues. The BT Tech may be backwards compatible, but if the Dev does not update the code, it might just age off into oblivion, unfortunately.

I just checked the BT settings in the working note 10 against my s23u, same settings but only the note 10 works. :(
