Bugs etc. - list them here

I came from the OG Droid to the Droid 3 and I was very excited thinking that i would not have home screen redraw, and lag, since it has a dual core processor and more ram, etc.....well, it redraws every time i close the camera, after latitude, after any "heavy" app. I really like the device, the thing feels really good in my hand, and the keyboard is awesome. I just rarely use it with texting etc. I was really sure I was going to get the iPhone after the original droid because it was soooo laggy and would lock up trying to send a picture message. I am considering taking this back as i will have had it a week today, and just getting an iphone. The problems i have had are small, i know, but i spent 200 dollars hoping to get rid of these problems, and now i am having my doubts....thoughts?

I would say get the iphone but you should wait. The new iphone is coming really soon like September. I'll thinking about going with a iphone as my next phone all android phones are unfinished and laggy just as you said. I've had the OG Droid, Samsung Fascinate, droid X for a day(talk about lag) droid Incredible 2, and the droid charge. All of those phones have lots and lots of problems from low signal, to blu tooth issues, to freezing, lagging to not getting calls at all. Even the droid charge, it will randomly drop data signal but it will lie and say you still have it.Plus the droid charge also drops calls, and 4g sucks the crap out of battery. Anyway I love android for the things you can do to it but I'm getting tired of the problems. I just want a phone that works that I can browse the internet, and most important make phone calls and not drop them.So wait for the new iphone.

You are aware that the most recent revision of the phone was also plagued with dropped call and wireless signal problems right?

Same here, which is incredibly frustrating coming from an OG Droid where this was my primary motivation for wanting to ditch the phone. It amazes me this hasn't been fixed. While I'm certainly not a developer, I don't think this is anything specific to Motoblur, as suggested elsewhere. It seems to be an Android OS problem as I suspect it's captured in these trackers:

Issue 11500 - android - Home screen lag / super slow to reload icons after 2.2 update. - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Issue 15135 - android - 2.3.3: Blank screen when returning to Home screen - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Long story short: Either google fixes this with an OTA update, or we'll need root access to fix it ourselves. Until then, periodic rebooting seems to be the only way to avoid it.

Horizontal view

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be like this, but my phone will not switch to landscape view in the home screen. I have to slide out the keyboard to get this done. For a touchscreen device, you should have the option of forcing this to switch regardless of the position of the keyboard.

I am having problems with bluetooth. When connected to my car (2010 Camaro) it will suddenly drop the connection when on a call (the call itself remains active). The phone thinks the connection is still there and I cannot re-establish the connection without turning off bluetooth on the phone then re-enabling it.

I have never had this problem on my prior phones.

This is normal for a lot of phones with a side slider keyboard. I believe my D2G was the same way with the default launcher. I switched to Launcher Pro to fix that problem among others...

First off, I understand that every phone has it's issues. I am not complaining, I love this phone but I noticed when you use your phone for media(videos, YouTube, netflix) , after about 10 min, the touchscreen gets real buggy and cooperative. Honestly, what do I expect, but it's so hard to put the phone down.

For reference, I just received a second Droid3 in the mail today for my other phone line and the slide out is markedly easier to operate now. The phone is charging so I haven't even booted it up yet, so I don't know about any other differences, but I wanted to report on this.

I'm not sure which I like more, the stiff, solid, slide, or the easier, looser, slide.

When I have the new model charged and operating, I'll check to see if there are any other differences that I can find.

*It appears that my hard case was causing the stiffness.

Picked up a D3 for my wife. (I have a Thunderbolt.) Some of the D3 touchscreen buttons are considerably less responsive than my TB, especially the back and home buttons. She has to tap them several times quite often before they'll respond. Is this common?

I really wish the quick contacts widget would work better, i seem to have found that I cannot get more than 13 contacts in there. anyone find a way to get use of the full 20 available slots?

I've noticed the following bugs, I love the phone still....just hoping they get some things patched up to make it much better.

Camera
Blue color tinting when flash is used (in doors or outdoors when it's dark
Camera force closes, a LOT

Blur
Redraws of the screen are ungodly long
Replaced with LauncherPro, I still see some redraw but it's not as bad

Data Roaming
Shuts itself off. Will not stay checked, I have a follow up call to make with Motorola to their teir2 techs, I will do so this weekend when I have time. I described this in another post and on the d3 motorola forums.

Music/Sound
I've had scratchy sound issues when another sound plays over what I'm listening to
External speaker and ringer speaker (maybe same, Idk) are very quiet even at max volume
Constantly "skips" or pauses is a better description

Again, I love the phone....but it's a new device and bugs are to be expected.

Camera

Forces closes, slow to start, slow to take pictures

Wallpaper

Randomly goes to default wallpaper at least 4 times now

Sounds

All of my notifications decided to use other ringtones to play.

Battery life

Its all over the place

when I make a phonecall my screen turn off. Even when I'm on speaker phone and holding it in my hands... I think I'm going for and exchange for another d3.

2 things.

1. My screen sometimes will turn off by itself when im right in the middle of using it. It doesn't happen a lot, but it seems to be related to battery life. When I get down around 20% it'll start turning off randomly. Rather annoying. I've tried changing different settings and still am experiencing it.

2. Sometimes as im typing on the keyboard, the bar that displays the auto suggestions will remain on the screen even after im done typing and close out of the app. The bar wont go away until I actually close the keyboard. Doesn't happen all the time but too frequent for my likings

I noticed my auto suggestion will stay up after closing out the app I am typing in, annoying but quick fix, close keyboard and open it back up. Also today it froze on me black lit but non responsive....but still love it

After having my Droid 3 for about two weeks, it has been randomly rebooting for the last week. I may not have been using the phone at that time or any time before it and I would hear it reboot. I'm not sure what's going on with this thing but it sucks. Someone stated that it may be a Wifi issue but my Wifi has never been used so that cannot possibly be the issue. There is also lag when opening the camera.

I have a very strange issue. After having started the DLNA App over the weekend to see what it was all about, my phone now will start playing my music whenever I answer a call. The DLNA app will be running and I have to open the music app to stop the music. Very annoying! Has anyone had this happen to them or have any idea how to correct this?
I was able to resolve this issue by removing the Easy Answer App that I had previously downloaded on my OG Droid

Occasional mystery resets (although it seems to be less lately)

Background image changes to default on its own occasionally.

When docked, part of the name of the city I was previously in still shows.

1x1 widgets do not line up properly on home screen when in portrait mode (they are on the bottom of their area).

Phone forgets personalized ringtones after removing and reinstalling same unaltered sd card.

I wish the call quality was better in noisey enviorments.
