Bugs on newly released Bionic?

I have experience with BlackBerry phones only and know that when a new BlackBerry is released or a new OS there are usually bugs present. It seems to take a while for a fix to get released by RIM.

What's the likelihood of the Bionic having bugs when it's first out? Are Androids different than BlackBerry phones in this way?

Is the Droid X bug free by now?

Thanks!

I think what you have to do first, is define a "bug". ie, there are ALWAYS bugs in smartphones' OS's and many of the apps for them. If what you mean, are there "showstopper" or "deal-breaker" bugs, then I'd say probably not (just MY opinion) for the former, but there will be some of the latter, for SOME folks. IMO, the Storm 1 shipped with showstopper bugs. Right now, I feel that the S2's OS is just a hair better than having deal-breaker bugs, but it is STILL buggy after all this time. Android isn't perfect, but my impression of the relative issues between the two platforms is that most people seem to OVERWHELMINGLY prefer the Android OS, despite what some like to refer to as fragmentation and lateness of updates for some brands of Android phones. I'm betting that you'll be more impressed with an Android phone's functionality this year, than the BB that you know now. :) (then again, I could be totally off-base)

Yes, even little bugs are annoying. I've had two major bugs on my Tour which resulted in needing to get a replacement phone. But there's been so many little bugs (text disappearing, music playing after you hang up a call, etc).

I'm thinking of going with the Droid X in march, and then get the Bionic after it's been out a year. That way I can be sure most of the glitches have been worked out.

Thanks for your opinion! I do think all smart phones will have glitches, I'd just like a stable phone.

:) wouldn't we all! When I switched from my ultra-reliable, glitch-free LG phone, to my first smartphone (Storm 1) I was beyond aggravated with the constant rebooting and glitches. I gave up after tons of hassles, in eight days--I returned our storms and put our LG's back in service for many months. However, my wife liked what the BB was capable of, so she bugged me to try them again, and that didn't go well either, so I returned them also, after less than 10 days. Months later, again at her insistence I reluctantly agreed to try them yet again ( I know, I'm a pushover). that time we've had a FAR BETTER experience with the S2's. But I still want to switch to Android, ESPECIALLY since BBM is so unreliable. BBM was one of the main reasons I liked the BB phones to begin with--along with the bright screens. IF the Bionic is visible in daylight, and has no bad glitches, I am SO getting one!

Thats a good way to go if you can wait on buying the phone. I bought my DX after it was out for two months. Spent a lot of time on AC and other forums researching it. I will probably do the same for the Bionic. Androids pretty fast at fixing bugs quickly if there are any so if you don't want to wait I would say just go and get it.

On droid forums, it is reported the bionic has a irreversible PLU problem. I will wait a bit too and see.

yeah, and someone claimed that there is only 36% meat in Taco Bell's meat filling. And that the BB PB's battery life would be super-short. oh, yeah, and that Obama was god's gift to our country. Like you said, "we'll see"

So when a motorola tester comes out and verifies that this phone does have an issue with its pmu but says that it will be fixed even blackmanx said this phone has power management issues we are just now seeing to what extent

I can say by first hand experience and speaking to Chrisy about this that there are a few bus in the OS the Bionic has now butthey will worked out having being able to play with a prototype for a week given to me by a client of mine who is a Motorola exec who had one.

That's a good question... I would have asked the same question myself, but you beat me to the punch. Hehe.

Doctor Larrabee's friend owns a meat packing plant that processes TacoBell meat. According to the FDA, 40% beef is required for companies to call it beef. So TacoBells meat is at least 40%. Anyone that thinks TacoBells beef isn't pseudo processed is severely misinformed.

Don't care about the PB, and Obama isn't the worst. The PLU rumor comes form a highly respected source, so educated purchases would be ones that waited for a week or so to see if it is a problem or not.

My guess is that Motorola will have a fix, and it will be fine. I can't see them releasing such an anticipated device with that much fail attached. Just be informed. Thanks for bringing up the TacoBell thing, I just lost my appetite again. Nasty.

I always wait on newly released products to see what the early adopters have to say about, so I don't end up with a higher percentage of buyer's regret returns on things I purchase.

:) I actually like taco bell for quick pseudo-mexican snacks or a light "meal".

Taco Bell is all over the news with it's ads touting the ACTUAL percentage of beef, along with a list of tasty ingredients. Sometimes those who bring lawsuits wish they didn't. This sounds like one of those cases. In any event, I order most items with chicken (except for their tacos). :)

Lol! Yeah, just don't eat the beef. It is bottom barrel stuff, and if you love your colon, make your own tacos ha ha. Speaking of which, I am making burritos! Love Mexican food!

Just went to El Torrito yesterday--I'd go more often, but it's 14 miles away and eating it doesn't do my blood sugar much good. :)

I have never heard of El Torrito? I googled it, and it does look pretty good. I try and cook most of my food to control ingredients/salt. I am a pre med student, and several biology classes later, I am thoroughly convinced if I can't understand the ingredients, I don't want them in my body. I tell you, I have taken some nutrition courses to, and fast/restaurant food is killing people. We have had a few restaurants try and open in Boulder CO that were organic based fast food, but people prefer their burger king, and they shut down.

Ok being a complete android noob/beginner/******/etc. What is a PLU and what is the issue being reported?

It's a well known fact that pre-med/med students will "suffer" from many ailments during their immersion in studies of disease! :) hang in there!

btw, is that your puppy?

Nope, just one of the images that I like. I have another one for another site that I like better, but I can't find the source file, so I used the one you are looking at. My dog is a 7 year old mini poodle that is nearly as cute. :) And probably a lot smarter. We have to spell around her, because if we use certain words, she picks up on them and gets excited to do whatever it is she thinks I was referring to.

The plu/pmu that he's talking about is the power management unit or so i think. I was faulty in early builds of this phone leading to overheating issue 4 hour battery life amongst other issues but I've heard they got it worked out. Now let's hope they work out the bootloader situation and we might have a winner here
