Bugs with 4.2

I have changed nothing on my TV. I plug into my AV amp as well and that does not take the sound. The earphone does work as another commentator has said, he plugs his earphone into the audio sockets of the tv to get it to work.

I hope asus come up with a fix very soon. This has to be very poor quality control to allow such fundamental bugs through.

I usually try and make a go of it after each update before resetting and generally find out pretty quickly that a reset is needed but so far with 4.2.1 things are better than previous stacked update tries. I'm sure now that I've written that the curse will begin..lol, but I'm OK so far. I use mine daily throughout the day as my main internet resource. My network does the heavy stuff for streaming etc but the Asus is my goto for email, web and reading. I could easily use a tablet fulltime on a trip or vacation.

I can't find any settings on the tablet. You could consider a factory reset, if it isn't a big hassle. I wish there were a way to clear the cache partition, like you can with many other phones and tablets, but as far as I can tell from Googling the topic, there is no way to do so with stock Android on Transformers.

As for the battery drain--do you have Google Currents installed? If so, change its refresh to manual, or uninstall it completely.

Unfortunately I've already done a factory reset, and I don't have Currents installed. Thanks again for the help.

I was on the phone with Asus support last night, and their solution was for me to send them my tablet for 6 weeks, so they could fix the problem. They informed me that my tablet was definitely the problem because when I did the factory reset, it should have put the tab back to the original operating system that it came with (4.03 I believe). I told him that that wasn't true and that that wasn't what a factory reset does. He told me that I was wrong, so I went into a lengthy explanation of how it all works. At the end, he suggested I talk to his supervisor since what I was telling him was way over his head. The supervisor got on the phone 20 minutes later and said the same thing as the level 1 guy. I tried explaining it to him, but he also didn't understand. I know that the technical support people try, but it's frustrating to constantly deal with people who have no idea what they're talking about. I have sent an email requesting that the software developers look into these issues, so we'll see what happens. Asus has been great with updates, so believe it or not, I actually have faith that they will address the problems. Until then, I guess I'll just have to use my Acer 7" for video streaming.

That's really frustrating. I find that Verizon support is just like that, especially the online people. Hope you come to a good resolution.

Is there any true carrier or company that provides amazing support?

True. Although, believe it or not, I've had good tech support experience with Comcast (!)

I still laugh about the time I went to go buy an Android phone, and the lady and guy kept pushing me to this phone that I knew sucked and I then asked them: "What's the processor speed on this, and what Android version does it run?" They replied that they weren't sure. Uh huh. So, for 10 minutes, I told them the speed, the OS, the RAM, how an Android can be used to its full potential. Needless to say, they looked at me like I was some sort of tech God. I never went back to that AT&T store again. I did the same thing with Sprint representatives. It's hilarious watching them squirm, and I only do it because, well, if you're gonna work for selling phones, you have to know about them. And if you don't, I'll teach you.

HDMI out and sound confirmed working. Tablet gets extremely laggy now, however.

What happens if you reboot, or clear out all of the app caches with something like App Cache Cleaner?

I did the factory reset. 3 days later I can say I'm confident it solved all the problems I complained about. Sadly this was not a victimless event, The Simpsons Tapped Out game progress was unrecoverable and will never be played again by me. My wife and I loved to compare cities. Who is going to explain to little Bart and Lisa that I never will find their mother?

You should have used the stock backup app. You can backup data and apps.

I don't know if it's considered a bug, but tablet still crashes/lags when you receive a notification while your doing something. Example, i could be moving through menus then the tablet freezes or lags then when it returns to normal a notification pops up. (email, appupdate, facebook w/e notification)

I have just done a factory reset. Browsing might bit a bit better, but I still get not sound from the hdmi. Also I can't get a video from my media server. Worked the first time, but not subsequetly. I get an error message saying there was a problem communicating with th server. Audio files work ok ( but no sound with hdmi interface.)

The hard reset also fixed the compass (again). disappointing that it goes wrong and needing a factory reset to fix. It took me most of the afternoon to reinstall and sign back on to all my accounts.

A lot of devices that update OTA erase everything/factory reset. The OTA for the tablets just overwrites the firmware and Dalvik-cache.

In plain English, it doesn't clean your tablet for you, you have to do it. That's why it is best to Factory reset after a major update.
