Build Quality?

This Maxx HD forum makes it difficult for me to be patient and wait for a nexus phone!

Why wait? The Maxx HD is very Vanilla like. You can't even remove the Google search bar on the home screen. Not much Blur is built into this phone.

The build quality of these two devices are easily the best of any current android device. Solid, well-built, and feel very premium. The metal power and volume switches are an especially nice touch. (They feel great) VERY impressed, especially since these aren't the 'new' Motorola devices yet. Also heads and shoulders above the original Razr and maxx.

Really? Didn't know you could do that without a 3rd party launcher. Where is that setting? Thanks!

Do what? All I said is the HD is very Vanilla like and that the Google bar can't be removed. Its not a Nexus replica but very close. Difference is a TINY bit of Blur mixed with the best battery in the industry, best build quality ever and superb cellular signal. This is the luxury car of phones.

I think he misread it. (I know I had to look at it again) It reads like you were saying that you can remove the bar.

The newer blur is even closer to stock than even the updates for the original razr. THAT version still had most of the old school blur apps. (Like gallery)

Couldn't agree more. It's a solid device. I don't regret paying full retail for it. My Nexus will now collect dust. I just wanted to know how to remove the search bar without a third party launcher.

I understand, the first question I asked on this forum about the HD was how to remove the search bar but it can't be moved. :(

Oh well, its not that bad. I just find it comical that being more Nexus like also means less freedom.

Ah ha!!!!

Oh yes I did!

The only issue is that space isn't usable but the search bar is now gone. Looks much better and less cluttered.

You need to go to Settings < Apps < All Apps < Google Search Bar < Disable

True. I guess it's the price you pay for skins but this one is well done. Normally I'd go straight to the nova launcher but I actually like the quick settings on the left.

Better battery and radio was my biggest reason for switching. I like to play with roms but I mainly do it to improve battery life and performance. Now I don't need to.

My wife has the Razr Maxx and I've been jealous for the last few months!

Disabling the search bar doesn't bother me because I never use it anyways. If I run into problems I will enable it but I don't see any problems coming from it

With JB coming you won't need the bar anyway. I don't think I'll be rooting this one because Jelly Bean pretty much covers my needs. Until I get bored.... I hope I don't.

And what blur does I can honestly say are enhancements / improvements. The biggest this are the stock email client and the fact that it allows you to set separate volumes for the ringer and notifications.

I agree, I was never against Blue but I do like this Vanilla Blur best.

Uninstall all the updates, then disable. This is how it works with all the preinstalled bloat.
