Is there anything I should look out for physically or software wise on the phone? I already ran the imei and it said it was clear. I didn't know if there was a specific thing I needed to watch for or keep an eye out for.

In Samsung phones you have to check a lot of things. I buy all my phones used. And it took me 2 tries to buy an S6. 2 to buy an S6 edge. 2 to buy the S7. I previously bought the S6 edge plus but it had a problem so I replaced with the S7. I'll tell you all about the issues I faced.

S6: faulty home button. It functioned only when pressed in the middle. But didn't respond when pressed slightly at the sides. Drove me nuts. The second S6 worked just fine.

S6 edge: the headphone jack didn't work and the phone got reeeeeeally hot. The second one didn't.

S6 edge plus: the camera made a weird buzzing sound while opening. It was really obvious. Drove me nuts. The S7 I replaced it with was perfect though.

When you get the S7 do check out the home button. The only way you can tell how much a galaxy device is used is by its home button. If there are a lot of scratches on it then know that you're buying a carelessly used phone. It's important that the home button MUST respond 100% of the time. Use it rigourously in the time you have with it. Launch the camera with double tap. Just make sure whenever you press it however you press it, it responds like it is supposed to. If you find anything fishy, I mean if it doesn't. If it's not 100%, trust me and don't buy it as it will annoy you very much after a few days.

And do check out the things mentioned above. Check the home button thoroughly! Check wifi. Check LTE. Make a phone call check the call volume. Check the speaker. Check the cameras both front and back. Make a 2 mins video so that you know it's not running hot. I don't think running hot is a problem on S7 though.

That's it. The rest depends on how lucky you are. I'm not. But used phones are all I can afford. Ask the person you're buying from to give you two days of check warranty. So that you have two days to return the phone if you find any fault.

Word of advice: IMEI may be clear now because the seller has it on an installment plan, but once they stop making payments the carrier will blacklist the phone and you'll be stuck with an expensive paperweight.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I didn't end up getting the phone. The situation was really weird and hard to explain. It was craigslist and he wasn't at his hotel that he was living in (first weird thing) he was 4 miles down the road and wanted a ride back there (second weird thing) then I show up and he has been Imessaging me all day but he was texting someone else on a flip phone. So he has a iPhone a flip phone and selling a top of the line device. Just didn't seem right so I drove away. Lol.

you are better off buying on Swappa than Craig's list.. Offlate there are brand new resale unlocked devices available for sale

Buying in Craigslist is perfectly fine as long as you filter out the scammers by looking at the listing, their responses etc. Finally tell them you will meet in a carrier store so that you can verify that phone is paid off its a carrier branded phone. If it's unlocked non carrier phone, I would meet in a public place like Starbucks, ask for proof of purchase if possible etc. Also, meet in a location you are familiar and comfortable with.

I would just stick with eBay most of the people on there are legit . There's a lot of scamming going on in Craigslist it not worth the risk
