Buying Nexus 7 with Nexus 4

Hi,

I have never owned a tablet but have had a Nexus 4 that I've been pleased with for some time.

I'm debating whether the partial and unavoidable duplication that will come from owning 2 Nexus devices will outweigh the convenience of having a seamless app and Google Now experience across multiple devices.

I don't "need" a tablet of course, but I'd be interested in hearing from others who've come across the same dilemma. I'm also considering the as-of-now unreleased Nexus 10 and also whatever new iPad comes about.

Any thoughts?

The biggest annoyance to me probably is the notifications. Like clearing my Facebook notifications on my phone doesn't clear them on the tablet. But that's a minor gripe.

IIRC, Google has at least started setting up synchronizing notification dismissal across devices. It's a catch-up game for other app developers to do the same.

Do it I have the nexus 7 and i kick my self for not getting a nexus phone. do it get both..... Dont get an iPad you will get bored I have both and my nexus 7 is way better....

I'm in the same boat as you. I have and love my Nexus 4. I 'want' a tablet, of course don't 'need' one. But birthday and holiday coming up, I could save and get one...

just can't figure out if it would be a waste and redundant to have the Nexus 7...

I don't think I'd like a Nexus 10. Too big. I've been thinking about the iPad mini as well with new one rumored around the corner. But the price turns me away. And the fact I'm invested in the Android ecosystem. One thing I would want from the iPad would be the education apps that are available as I'm becoming a teacher.

I mean does the screen size and functionality on the Nexus 7 compared to the Nexus 4 really make that much of a difference to justify spending $270 on a tablet that I do not need?

I have a N4 and N7 and I think they are a great pair. The few extra inches does really make a difference with videos, games, and surfing the web and the N7 is very portable for home and work use. When I am either place, I don't really use my phone at all. I have the wifi only N7 so I can easily tether the internet from my N4 when on the go; I do this quite often when playing Ingress.

If you are looking for a tablet, the N7 is a really great choice imo.

Are there any con's to having both? I mean is it really worth the money?
