I'm getting off work at 4 and driving straight to sprint to buy my new evo 3d, but I have one question to all of you who already bought the phone. Were there a lot of people in line waiting/buying this phone? Let me note that I live in chicago and will be getting it at sprint.

From what I read... so far no... After work this could all change though. Good luck and good choice.

Thanks guys, hope it will be similar when i go to sprint. I don't wanna wait in line waiting for my baby!

This not new iphone, not that I would buy one, it is just that a few million apple fanboys will stick with the iphone and when the new one comes out they line up to get it. That is how it is. There are some people who only buy iphone and will line up every year for it.

i got mine from a local radio shack and there was noone there when the store opened at 9am, by the time my phone was setup around 930 still noone had come in for the evo. also i was able to see the other evos that were pre ordered there was only one other.

Same here, I was the only one in the Sprint store this morning at 8. One other lady came in at 8, but she wanted the og EVO, since the price reduction to $100.

There were normal crowds at my Sprint store when I drove by earlier. However since I have an appt. I don't have to worry about the walk-ins.

I walked into my local target and was playing with my new 3d within 5 minutes. I did not have a pre-order, just took a chance and headed in.. Even got the 150.00 for my evo!!!!

Yea I do not think the demand was that large or people are just waiting or they got it early. Because I called two best buys and a sprint store and they have them in stock. I have one set aside for me at the sprint store and I did not pre-order.

I got to my local sprint store at 7:30 I was only one there at 8 two others showed up I purchased 3d then drove over to best buy about 9 am no one was in the store

Same story here. I had preordered one so I didn't go in early.. it was probably 10:00am. The guy who sold me the phone said that they had only sold 3 so far. He also said that last year at the Evo4G launch they had around 40 people lined up!

Well when the premier plans changed it killed the 3ds chance of having a launch like the evos. A lot of people got screwed on this deal. Some figured out if they complained they could get it straightened out but most did not. So the numbers are not going to be anything like last years evo launch.

My local store is usually slammed, it was a ghost town this morning though. Walking threw the doors, I thought I was going to get jumped! Nothing but sprint employees, I played with the phone for about 5 mins. The phone was neat, I liked how fast it was. The end of the day I'm keeping my EVO and waiting for kingdom or something that will be more useful for me.

I think that tSprint, Best Buy, and Radio Shack all did a great job with their pre-order systems. They were calling everyone yesterday to schedule out appointments all day today and into the weekend. This way they can give the focus each person deserves.

The pre-orders were so limited last year and even stores that had them told people to come first thing to the stores.

Not really.. around here they pretty much handled it the same way they did last year. Its like I said on another post, the demand for this phone simply wasnt going to be anywhere near as high as it was for the Evo last year. So many other options on all carriers, so many people locked into contracts without upgrades... the lack of crowds was pretty much expected for me. The sprint store I went to was a corporate store and I think even they were surprised how thin it was. The RS in the mall had 14 pre-orders and when I checked about an hour ago they had only sold 4 phones outside of their pre-orders.

No line this afternoon at Target ($199) or Sam's Club( $175). Target had a dummy on display, Sam's didn't. Neither will open up a box to demonstrate. Sam's said they got about a dozen in and had sold half by the afternoon. This was in Atlanta.
