Buying the phone in stores

I contacted te Verizon stores in Omaha, Ne and they are saying no stock until the 15th or 16th. That stinks.
 
Yikes, I hope stores around me have some.... I live in a suburb of Minneapolis/st. Paul so I am hoping I can find one somewhere. We have a lot of stores around! Lol
 
I ended up preordering one again just in case something fishy happens again with the dates moving around. If anything I figured I can just walk into the store and ask them to cancel my preorder and buy one on the spot. If all goes as promised so far, I should be able to cancel my preorder and get one in stores. If not, I guess it's up to another 11 days of waiting...
 
I went into the Verizon retail store yesterday and they brought out the S3 demo from the back. They let me walk around and play with it for awhile, and they said that Tuesday the phone would be out. I told them I was buying full retail to keep unlimited and they would buy back my Droid 4 for $230 if I bought the S3 the same day. But Tuesday is the day. And the Verizon reps at my store are actually really knowledgeable, unlike most :cool:

I've now seen a minimum of 3 threads in the past 15min where people had their ship dates changed because of cc's that were refused. Sounds to me like VZW is having issues with THEIR system and those of you who are in this boat need to bring it to their attention. It's not right that they delay your stuff because they have a problem.
 
I'll be dropping by the Verizon store as soon as they open tomorrow.

I have a couple of questions with seemingly obvious answers.
If they have them in stock, can they cancel my preorder on the spot and let me buy one in store? It'd be a pain to log in on my phone to cancel the order

& they accept cash, right?
My credit card is having problems right now...

Hopefully I can buy it in stores tomorrow or get a shipping notification later in the day if my local corp. store doesn't launch sales tomorrow
 
I went into a VZW store today after work to see if they had a GS3 demo out. They didn't, but the rep went to the back and brought out the demo. While I was checking it out I asked her what time was they opening tomorrow.

She said "Oh we won't have the phone until the 12th". I asked why? Of course she never gave me an answer lol.

I'm still gonna swing past the store since I pass by it every morning on my way to work just to see what's going on.

I called a few of my local corporate stores and they all told me the launch date is the 12th, but they do have demos out now. I'd rather not go and play with one, it'll be torture.

EDIT: Oh, and one of the reps told me on the phone that they usually receive shipments the day before launch, so probably sometime tomorrow. Now if somehow Verizon shipped mine out tonight with overnight shippping........

I called my local store today and was told Thursday. Two more days... I wonder how many people will be trying to get them in store, especially since the online orders are so delayed.

No my wife store got theirs n she picked hers up yesterday. They postponed obviously launch in Seattle had about 40 or so people there however they we're kind enough to put names on boxes ....but at least my fam has one, of course wife has it . Played with store demo today.

Well, that's great you at least have your name on a box and can be sure you'll be getting one straight away :) What color did your wife get? (I'm still having a terrible time deciding which one I'm going to be picking up!)

Hmmm. I stopped by today at my corp. store. The rep working there said I wouldn't be able to cancel my order and buy one at the store because mine would have already shipped. He said I should get my phone before the launch in stores. Little does he know my phone's supposed to ship on the 16th...

So... I'm really confused right now. Why can't I cancel my order on Thursday if it hasn't even finished processing or shipped? Is he just incompetent?
 
TK, they are lying to you. If you can get the phone in store on Thursday, than get the phone. I called and told them I did not want my pre-order because I had ordered elsewhere. They told me that if I refused the package, my credit card would not be charged.

Just refuse the package and they will charge you nothing.

Oh and this has to be one of the worst releases of a phone ever. The date has changed at least twice now and it seems like every store has a different answer to when it will be released.

Yup.
After I canceled my earlier preorder with an expected ship date of 7/11 (canceled due to CC error), I put in a new order and it's new ship date was 7/19. It magically changed to 7/16, and I was grateful, but now the ship date is blank. So which is it Verizon?

I no longer see a button online allowing me to cancel the order- is that good news? I don't remember what that meant for people on other threads.
Expected ship date, courier, and tracking no. all blank & no longer shows the button for canceling. How long did it generally take for other people on the other threads to receive their phone after seeing what I am seeing now?

Same here. Ive called just about everywhere in my area to see if the launch dates were jumbled around. Yesterday I got mixed responses. Today...they stayed constant. I've got an upgrade on a separate line other than mine that holds only a basic phone. So I won't be losing data under my device.
