Calendar reminders not persistent

[AC Question]

I'm sure this has been asked before, but here I go again. I have an HTC One from Verizon (not that it matters). Anyway, prior to the JellyBean release, my calendar notifications would pop up on the notification bar AND STAY THERE until I manually swiped them away. After JellyBean, the calendar notifications do not stay around - they disappear. So my alarms that go off when I'm in a meeting or away from the phone are no longer there when I look for them.

I believe this is due to JellyBean, but my real question is if anyone knows of a calendar app (that will sync with google calendar) that will provide the old sort of functionality (that allows me to manually dismiss the calendar notifications).
