Calendar search issue

When I search the calendar, there is a message at the top and bottom of the search results to search beyond the shown results (which go back approx 2 months). Choosing either option results in nothing happening. There is no data showing beyond a couple of months, unless I go to the web version of the calendar, so what am I missing about the JB calendar showing options for expanding the search, yet they do nothing. Am I missing a way to increase the time frame of the synced events??

Just to be clear if you search something and touch the date range(top or bottom) it will only display the search results(whatever you searched) on the date range.

if you need all results then just press the top menu where it displays the [Date and Day] and click "agenda". It works for me on my Nexus phone.

the problem is that there IS NO DATA in the calendar going back as far as the google calendar on the web. ie, the android app only goes back roughly 2 months. I had a BB for more than a year and it was the same way, as far as what time frame was synced to google calendar. I don't think the search is the fault here; it's the lack of data within the app, as always in my experience with the mobile apps that sync to GC.

It seems to me that if the mobile app shows options for searching in years past, but there's never any data going back more than a few months, I wonder why that option shows up?

I COULD do the search from the browser, but it's a pain. :)

seems like its a known issue and the app only syncs a month old data. but here is a work around i found.

Its not a pretty work around but if you absolutely need it try it out

thats why i said its not a pretty work around. if its worth the pain try it out.

but I don't understand about any way to use Exchange active sync for gmail, on my N7. I use it on my Touch, but am clueless re the N7 and AS.

(don't laugh--I tried this afternoon and just didn't see a way to do it!)

Use the stock Android email app, rather than the Gmail app, to set up Exchange ActiveSync accounts.

ok, so I went to email>add account>create my gmail account. but then what?

Before selecting the option to add a Gmail account, what other options did you see? Is there an Exchange option or an option for manual setup? Try selecting those to setup your Gmail account.

i can't set up thru exchange. it always returns an error that the server settings are incorrect. it shows a domain of "my gmail addy without "gmail.com". that can't be right! :)

Edit the field to include your entire email address, i.e., xxxx@gmail.com. The server field further below should read m.google.com.

ah. will try. it didn't have the "m"

I think I'm losing it. I went into the email app to add my gmail account and found that I'd already somehow created it after the initial issue, but the incoming server is imap.google.com. So I have the gmail app showing my gmail acct as well as an email app showing (redundantly, of course) my gmail. But how does that get me to the calendar in a different manner than usual, which will then give me more than a few months of data?

The account was set up as an IMAP account, rather than as an Exchange account, which is what you're looking to do. Try deleting the IMAP account and setup your gmail as an Exchange account.

This is what I get when I set up an email address as an Exchange account. Use 443 in the Port field. Are you seeing something similar?

i'm thinking the only way to deal with this is to use the browser to access the calendar for old entries??

Well thanks for trying! It sucks we can't keep years of calendar data on the calendar outside of the browser
